because i don't have a car period? city transit and walking.

I live downtown so the city transit is pretty reliable. Probably gets worse the further out i would go

Mining CEO: There Isnt Enough Lithium to Support Global EV Deadlines
https://www.extremetech.com/extreme/339339-mining-ceo-there-isnt-enough-lithium-to-support-global-ev-deadlines

Thanks to everybody trying to jump in on the EV bandwagon at the same time, the price of Lithium has skyrocketed along with batteries.

So in your rush for a magical EV solution, you just made it harder for everybody to benefit and only the rich can afford EV's.

Synergestic PHEV's where you have a limited battery capacity for a range of:
  • (_50 mi | 80 km @ GVWR)
  • (100 km | 62 mi @ GVWR)
would be far more practical and beneficial to everybody in the world.

The Vast Majority of Americans & Europeans don't travel past 50 mi round trip daily.

There's no need to sell more Battery Range / Capacity than what the vast majority of American and EU drivers would ever need for one day.

Add in Solar Panels on top of a smaller battery, you have a much better solution for the average person.

Jason from Engineering Explained estimated that a average Corolla Sedan with it's Flat Roof / Trunk area combined would get a Corolla about 10,000 Electric Miles for "Free" over the course of a year in a SoCal like sunny environment.

That doesn't cover the entire average persons yearly driving, but it covers a HUGE percentage.

Porsche, with it's Porsche 919 Hybrid EVO, proved that a Hybrid car where one axle is powered by a EM (Electric Motor) and the other axle is powered by the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) offers the best performance results. ZERO mechanical Linkages, all electronic linkages / timing adjustment of each axle.

Porsche set one of the best records for the Nrburgring race course lap times with their Porsche 919 Hybrid EVO.

Legendary Racer Timo Bernhard set a record Lap Time of 5:19.546.

Porsche gives its Le Mans program a blistering send-off

No other vehicle so far has come EVEN CLOSE to breaking that record.
No pure ICE (Internal Combustion Engine)
No pure EM (Electric Motor) BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) could do it.

It was a true Hybrid Vehicle of ICE + EM that set that record.

The future of performance & efficiency is in PHEV's where one axle is powered by a ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) & the other axle is powered by the BEM (Battery powered Electric Motor)

PHEV's bring affordable: (ownership, repair costs, TCO)

Replacing a MUCH smaller amount of battery is vastly cheaper for the majority of people.

Tesla owner blows up his Model S with dynamite over $22,000 battery replacement

Think about it, buying a brand new engine and installing it doesn't come anywhere close to $22k.

Replacing The Battery Pack On A Tesla Model 3 Costs More Than You Think
https://www.slashgear.com/857917/replacing-the-battery-pack-on-a-tesla-model-3-costs-more-than-you-think/
Recurrent reports that replacing the battery of a Tesla Model 3 costs about $15,800.

Smaller, similar sized batteries will lead to cheaper replacements and common battery pack standardization.

You can get most of your Carbon reduction by plugging in at home and Super Charging only as needed.
But with a Solar Panel roof, you won't need to charge at home or a Super Charger as much
If you do have to charge, it won't be for nearly as much energy since the Solar Panel will help offset a nice chunk of the energy needed.

In a worst case scenario, you can use the ICE as a backup or only on that long road trip that you rarely go on.
The ICE can also double as a portable generator along with the battery of your car as a large battery bank.
The Solar Panel will just passively get you more power for free as you live your life.

Because they suck in cold weather, and I dont have a lot of faith in an electric car in -25C to -35C. Like at all.

Because they're fucking expensive for any that would get sufficient mileage for my use.

I really do like the idea of them, they're just not at a point where it's practical - financially or otherwise - for me yet. For now, I just gotta stick with my super-efficient old manual.
