For cheaper subscriptions?

At one point I remember when the Games with Gold program began on Xbox, different regions had different games pretty often. People were changing their region to download all the games, some people were getting 10+ a month this way.

Eventually they caught on, people had those games wiped they got through the region change process and many got banned. So that said, in some regards it's likely illegal, being in this scenario people passed over paying for something in the US to get it for free from a region they don't live in.

there's no law against it but it's probably against the terms of use of whatever you're using
so if it's against the rules, they have the right to do whatever their rules say they have the right to do
