The 3rd best Halloween movie imo. Though Kills was pretty damn entertaining by the end with how awful it was so idk.

Dan Akroyd's Twilight Zone

a perfect mixture of horror, comedy, higher thinking, and a careful recreation of the retro vibes from Rod Serling's original masterpieces. Easy to casually dismiss on account of its self-depreciating and subtle tongue-in-cheek cheese approach to unintentional humor, but if you haven't given this one a chance, that's the only reason why. 8/10 film at the worst. Like the best of the TV show, this movie focuses on supernatural events that become sci-fi in the implication of their existence and with the weight of an overhanging moral message

@meestermj Yeah classic. Watch Tucker & Dale vs. Evil if you haven't. More straight comedy, but it's still similar.

Oh and Behind the Mask. Think you'll like that.

[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

Liked You're Next a lot. Loved the Guest and might rewatch it since it's been a few years. That's another one I highly recommend. Didn't like Brightburn.

Never actually got around to Planet Terror. Don't think I ever heard of Dog Soldiers. I'll write that one down.

I really liked Lake Mungo but it's not that sort of scary. Very slow paced and grounded. I know some dramas that feel like they might give ya stress and a heart attack (Good Times, Uncut Gems), but idk any horror movies that'd have that sort of impact. Everyone's too different. Closest thing for me was the Shining when I was 13.

Yeah saw that when it came out on HBO or something back in the day. It's a run of the mill schlock horror movie that's not great, but was enjoyable and I'd say it's a little underrated. Sometimes you're in the mood for that level of horror flick.

Im throwing It Follows and the original Japanese Ringu into the pot.

Both have amazing tension and are surprisingly low budget. Ringu is much better than the American one in my opinion too.

I would also toss in the Evil Dead remake as its just a blender of a movie. Great practical effects too. Doesnt top the originals of course but holds its own better than a lot of remakes.

Ex-Machina if you haven't seen it.

I want to suggest Under The Skin as well, as it's one of my all time favorite films, but it's pretty devisive and weird in Kubrick-esque way.

Also, if you hate awkward social gathering, especially with family, Shiva Baby goes from being a comedy to a horror. Literally one of the most anxiety inducing films I've ever watched.

All three are available on HBOMax.

It Follows was a dang good one. Saw it when it came out. Also seen Ringu. I do think the American version has some parts that are better honestly. Can't say which is better overall since I haven't seen either in a long time and I never saw them close together.

Plan on watching the Evil Dead remake. I started it back in the day, wasn't feeling it and turned it off, but never came back to it. Gonna give it a more fair go.
