I remember the light brown ones. Anyway I think they've got just about every color these days.

That picture that the TC posted is very interesting.

It is the first time I have ever seen the entire M&M range of Mascots and had always wondered if they had anthropomorphized the others.

The reason I find it interesting is that in Britain our TV commercials only ever feature Red and Yellow with one exception when Brown appeared in one and that was only because Mars UK gave us a commercial that was originally made for The US.

Lace those bad boys up, I'm gonna make sure she contains nuts.

Here is a little fact for you, In Britain we didn't get M&M's until 1990. Before that Mars UK made a product called Treets which were basically the same as M&M but without the coloured shells. Mars dropped them in 1988. I really miss them.

The same thing happened in Britain when Blue Smarties were introduced. Europe had Blue Smarties for years before we got them in Britain. They were dropped for awhile because Nestle couldn't find a natural blue dye but then they did and brought them back.

I have just looked around the internet and can't seem to find a definite answer on when Mars introduced M&M's to the UK.

It was definitely the 1980's but nowhere says when in the 1980's. Meaning it leaves the question, Did Mars drop Treets for M&M's or did they run both products together for awhile before dropping Treets?

My gut instinct tell me it would have been after they dropped Treets because it wouldn't make sense having two similar products.

According to wikipedia in the late 1980's Mars were phasing out Treets. Chocolate Treets were replaced by Galaxy Minstrels, Toffee Treets became known as Relays before being dropped altogether and Peanut Treets were replaced by Peanut M&M's. So that looks like 1988 or 1989 for M&M's.
