ZMythos 10/04/22 6:32:17 PM #13:	As a HS teacher, I probably understand TC's position better than most. Post #6 is right in that many kids are raised to believe the same things their parents believe. Any why not? They raised us, fed us, taught us things before we even started school, of course we model our own thoughts and behaviors off of the people who we grew up with. And of course the kid is wrong, and it's easy to make fun of him for it since he clearly does not know any better. But, this is also an opportunity to plant a seed in that child's mind to begin questioning his base assumptions and beliefs. It's an opportunity for him and his class to engage in critical thinking, serious discussion, and being able to critique the reasoning of others. Without being an opponent, TC can be a moderator of the discourse these kids are engaging in. They are still developing minds, able to be shaped and molded. Right now, putting that kid down instead of leading him to better conclusions will forfeit that opportunity. He'd argue loudly and at length at any chance he could get. When he graduated, he went to an Ivy League school for bio chem. Eventually he got "woke," started campaigning for Bernie before he was a household name, and joined Antifa. Most kids are just a product of their environment and literally can't conceptualize the world outside of their bubbles.
