The only time i ever do it is when someone tries to do it to someone else in an unneeded, assholeish manner.

Almost exclusively when someone says "Ackshully its a suppressor, not a silencer!"

Ackshully, restrooms doesn't have tubs or showers in it. Only bathrooms, hence the word bath in the name.

I have totally felt the need to make this distinction at least twice in my life.

all the time? part of the nature of my career is to be as knowledgeable about my field as possible and it's important to correct clients and contractors so that there aren't any misunderstandings/expectations down the line

yes, i enjoy being pedantic sometimes.

the most recent example was when i was at a family gathering after my grandfather's memorial service, at his favorite restaurant, and i told two different people in completely separate conversations that actually "cannoli" is plural and the singular form is "cannolo", and they both had the exact same reaction, asking if i was making it up, lol. and i told them i know it sounds like i'm making it up, but it's completely true.
