Black Lotus is a sacrifice rather than a tap and I'm pretty sure they can sac in response to you targeting it. The main point of the Black Lotus though was to hit really early combos so even if it did work you'd have a very narrow window to pull it off assuming you even had a land down. The reprints are non-tournament legal though, so it really isn't that big a deal.
