WAYLAND, Mass.
Police in the Massachusetts town of Wayland are investigating the actions of an officer who fatally shot a dog that attacked and bit him while he was responding to a call.
Acting Wayland police Chief Ed Burman said the officer went to a home on Concord Road at about 11:20 a.m. Monday to investigate after someone called 911 and hung up.

The officer knocked on the door of the home and began speaking with the homeowner when a dog darted out of the house and attacked the officer, biting him multiple times, according to Burman.
The family who owned the dog told NewsCenter 5's John Atwater that their pet was a 1-year-old pit bull-Labrador retriever mix named Blaze, who weighed 61 pounds.
"The cop was running all over the yard, so he jumped up and grabbed him by the arm, and let go," said a man who owned the dog.
Burman said the dog continued to pursue and attack the officer when he started to retreat to his vehicle. In response to the attack and the immediate danger he faced, the officer discharged his service weapon, shooting and killing the dog.
"I was coming out the door and the next thing you know, I heard 'Boom! Boom! Boom!" the man said.

I know we're supposed to hate cops but when your dog is attacking them, what are they supposed to do?

Remember, they don't have the knowledge/memories of your pet that you do.

Guess it is what it is. Its one of those "only one will survive" things.

Dog ran out and attacked someone at the door. Next time it couldve ended much worse.

The Pit Bull exhibits at the zoo should've been built 5 years ago.

This, and even if i distrust the cops I'll still take their side versus a dangerous animal because human lives do matter more than that of an animals.

Sounds fair. Even the owner said the dog grabbed the cops arm.

Sounds fair to me, this could have just as easily happened to someone who did not have the means to protect themself

It's true that both are hated, but honestly even pits get a little more sympathy than cops on CE.

It'd be nice if everyone believed this. But there is a huge amount of people who think the opposite and can't even bring themselves to shoot a dog in a video game.

Why are people still allowed to have pit bulls? Just recently, a family's pit bull killed two children (I believe ages 1 and 5) and seriously injured the mother as she tried to intervene. This was their pet that did this.

Edit: The children were even younger than I thought.

They probably do, but they're too invested to display their full-of-shitness to everyone else, but best believe when the time comes their true colors will come out.
