its like Japanese cartoons, but for some reason they just hit different ya dig

theyve got ones about ninjas and ones about aliens and ones about robots

pretty cool niche medium i highly recommend if you want to learn about another culture!!

I've heard that they pretty accurately depict life in Japan, but has that been the case for you?

Tried them, they are hit or miss. I like one punch man, attack on titan, but not the super cutesy stuff.

Ghibli's stuff like My Neighbor Totoro and Grave of the Fireflies is way too cutesy for me.

I've seen a lot of movies from Asian countries, and maybe one or two actual animes. Not a big fan and I kind of prefer Western animation anyway.

To me, it doesn't matter if a show is animated or not, or which country it originates. I care only that I can understand what's going on and that the show itself is good.

That said, the last anime I watched was a fanmade show based on the Touhou games. I enjoyed parts of it, to say the least, and I'd say it's better than a lot of studio-made anime shows in the last 10-15 years. It currently has 17 episodes, though the last one has not been subbed yet, afaik.

if you've gotten into Korean/Chinese/Japanese stuff, you'd find that they tend to heavily lean into certain things, so i feel like if you've consumed enough you'll eventually start having preferences. for example: japanese isekai is usually OP powers in a fantasy world, korean isekai is usually either villainess stuff or fantasy powers in a modern day city, and chinese isekai usually leans heavily into wuxia and cultivation (their OP powers are usually gamified cultivation shortcuts)

I'm pretty hardcore into anime. I've seen One Punch Man, Attack on Titan, Avatar, Hunter X Hunter, and Steins Gate. Despite all that, my favorite is a lesser known one called Azumanga Daioh.
