Well the sale started but every page keeps crashing and/or loading slow. Dusk went on sale as expected so I'm picking that up later today.

Hey TC, i saw you had recs for Bulletstorm likers. lay em on me if you don't mind.

I thought of another one I loved. TimeShift. its a little janky and a little too dark and edgy, but its also high concept chunky bloody fun. You can slow, pause, and rewind time. You're basically the lead resistance fighter in a future dystopia. It's so sick and burned into my brain

Pausing time and taking badguys guns is so fun. or pausing time as soon as they throw a grenade, grabbing the grenade out of the air, and placing it at their feet

really fun (probably dated)

Gloomwood(More of a hybrid FPS/Thief game but still amazing)

Cultic(Not on sale but it's only $10)

It runs fine on some source ports that aren't gzdoom. Maybe would run fine on vanilla doom also

Timeshift was amazing, even if I wish it did more. Similar to how I feel about Singularity, which is more of a standard on rails FPS, but still a ton of fun.

Big one I'd suggest to you is Ultrakill - it's a retro shooter with some fantastic movement options and a big scoring system. Difficult but with a ton of options and incredibly satisfying.

i own all 3 but never played the first two and never really had any interest in doing so

One of the best soundtracks of all time

Picked up the Hexen + Heretic pack (Heretic, Hexen, Hexen 2, Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel) and Blood: Fresh Supply on the sale for altogether less than $10. Pretty damn good haul imo

Nice! Heretic is a personal favorite, also worth looking for Heretic 2, it's very different but fantastic. Sadly not available for purchase :(

Hexen games are also fantastic, and don't be afraid to use a guide depending on your tolerance for "puzzles". Amazing gameplay, and Hexen is gorgeous.

For Blood, check out the mod Deathwish when you're done with the game. One of the single best retro gaming experiences out there, and it's still not done.

After I'm done with Quake (and all the extra levels) I kinda want to play Powerslave. That is after I play Bayonetta 3 lmao.

I think they basically take things from the Playstation and the Sega Saturn version.

Prodeus is amazing. I knew nothing of it before it hit Game Pass and just randomly tried it. So pleasantly surprised! I'm also starting my yearly playthrough of the Bioshock series.

You know one game I have not seen mentioned here yet is Cruelty Squad. Anyone play it? No doubt it's the kind of game that's bound to turn a lot of people off simply because of how it looks. I really enjoyed it though.

Played a bit of Dusk and found the switch for a secret room in I think 1-2, but I couldn't find the room that opened so I gave up for the day. I didn't know you could pick up almost whatever in this game so I kept macgyver-ing my way on top of stuff and/or using fuel to bomb jump to places which was fun.

YEah, moving around and exploring in that game is just a blast. And there's definitely some more obscure secrets too.

Been playing Far Cry 6, about 75% finished I think. Been one of my least favorites, but it's still good.

The Quake Remaster levels made by Machine Games were kind of painfully mediocre. They just kind of threw enemies at you in hallways or in big ass square arenas. They loved those Grunt enemies.

I have Ion Furt on my wishlist but I havent picked it up yet. I love Build Engine games so I will eventually.

Yeah, and honestly, I know they used the formula a lot, but hunting now seems useless also, I liked going after pelts and whatnot to upgrade gear and capacity.

The individual gun perks don't really do much for me, rather have more variety in sites and attachments.

yeah I wish the Far Cry series would make the perks and crafting more interesting and get rid of some of the "clear this map icon" stuff instead of dumbing down the perks.

The cool thing about Dusk is how they streamlined bunny hopping. On the harder difficulties, I actually found it necessary to not get massacred in some of the arenas

Finally getting around to getting Chicharron amigo, this rooster is a real asshole, the missions are funny when he goes around busting up people's stands and stuff.

Just recently did a (re)play through of the Bioshock trilogy, loved them all. Didnt expect to love Infinite as much as I do now. Also, I want to recommend Fashion Police Squad. Really funny game with some unconventional FPS gameplay

It feels like the Quake episode Dimension of the Past was some super quick slapdash thing, but Dimension of the Machine was actually pretty impressive with how connected the stage was, how big it was and how well some of the encounter design was comparatively.

i really gotta play through the new quake expansion from last year. i started it last year and got about 3/4 through but then my save broke. started over recently but i'm getting my shit rekt in the first level now lol

i have ultrakill and prodeus but haven't played the latest versions yet (prodeus is done iirc?)

I think that's Dimension of the Machine. It's actually pretty alright compared to the other one by Machine Games. That one really feels like they cranked it out in 30 days.

Oh absolutely, that final arena battle made me learn how to do it effectively lol

I started playing Ultrakill last week. The movement is pretty fun though I was not expecting the difficulty to spike so quickly with a certain early boss. Died over 30 times to him.

if so, I gave that one a solid hour or so on violent difficulty last night, had to step away from it so I can try again later

Feels like it demands damn near perfect movement and timing to heal
