If you're hoping to find love, companionship, or emotional warmth at sex parties, then sure, you're searching in the wrong place. But if you're focused purely on transient, no-strings-attached sexual gratification, they're not a bad way to spend an evening.

yea yea it's a deff a diff strokes thing. i vibe with it more than i do lovey dovey intimate shit at least. I've been with two others a few times but even then that can be too much. I just get angry when I'm around people, i think it's like this weird sensory overload type of thing

still considered going just for the bucket list, but i knew myself enough to know I'd have a bad time

You do need to feel you're in the right sort of place in your life to enjoy that kind of thing. After my split from my first wife I just wanted to pick up the threads of my old life once again and if Im truthful, there was a certain element of over-compensation at work in the 'born-again singleton' thing, and that's why I ended up dipping my toe into that scene. I don't regret it, but to be honest three years of dabbling (on and off) was probably enough.
