Earlier this year I went through RE5 which was not very Resident Evil, but still overall a good time if you can accept how different it is. I also went through the Umbrella and Darkside Chronicles on the Wii which were fun. So next up in my journey through, Revelations.

I know pretty much nothing about this game. I think it takes place on a boat and I think that's a dark haired (thank god) Jill in the thumbnail. Playing on PS4.

Queen Zenobia.

Jill and some new guy with an accent. Great to see Jill back to looking like Jill. Mentioning Chris & so guess we're looking for them.

Whoa this camera is tight on Jill. She's taking up 30% of the screen.

This was on handhelds originally? 3DS annnnnd Vita? Can tell it's a port with how big some of the prompts look. Not necessarily a bad thing since there's been some good ass handheld side games to franchises.

Let's see...inventory seems big. Might not even be limited. No running button? No double tap to bash a door open? No roll or crouch. These aren't necessarily bad things as long as it plays good and is structured right.

"Parker". That's the new guy's name. Wonder what Sheva's up to.

Big tongue monster. This aiming's a lil "floaty".

Floating city? New terrorist group, "Veltro" and they got hunters. Better not just be a branch of Umbrella. Terragrigia. Man that was a ton of fucking plot that just happened in that news report. So we got a sunken destroyed city in the ocean. Weird step up from just Africa.

This scanner feels like it was a touchscreen gimmick on the 3DS or Vita I bet. Wonder if I shoulda played the original version to get a proper feel for it. I'm sure it's inferior, but I do like seeing different versions.

Switched over to the 3DS version cause why not? I'll go back to the PS4 to get the platinum at some point. Gotta get used to the New 3DS' nub. Surprised that there's no over the shoulder aiming it seems. Just switching to first person which is new.

like someone said revelations takes place before 5
revelations 2 takes place before 6 but it came out after

jills last appearance in the series timeline was in RE5

Thanks for clearing it up, but I want to go into all future games as blind as can be, so please keep info limited to this game and prior. That's a real shame though.

The evil lady from revelations 2 is some of the cringiest writing in the series and thats really saying something for resident evil

Glad I switched to the 3DS. Just a nice change up and gives me an excuse to dust it off.

Scanned and shot the fatty masses on the beach for the Colonel Campbell soundalike, O'Brian.

Just gonna call it there for the night cause I gotta get up early tomorrow. Just dipped a toe in to see what it's like, but my toe liked what it felt so far. Looking forward to sinking some real time in over the weekend.

Didn't know this'd be jumping around between characters. Fine by me. Good with playing as Chris again. Snow setting's a nice change of location too.

Aiming with the nub with dogs jumping at me was pretty rough. This probably plays better with the monstrosity circle pad pro. Or ya know...on PS4, but meh.

First bit of touch screen glory. Have a weird nostalgia for these gimmicks. Unscrew the screws, move the wires to connect the things. Digging this weaponless bit, though I'm not great at the dodging yet. Got a nice retro tone to it.

Were these episodes released at different times? The previously ons got nothing on Telltale. Alan Wake did 'em too though and that was all released at once.

Alright so Parker, Jessica and red head (Raymond) were with the FBC when Terragrigia was evacuated and Jessica had a silly lil hat on.

That was a fun actiony escape. Just blowing hunters away. This is the most the hunters have ever been jobbers though which sucks considering how god damn scary they were in RE1 based on the threat. This whole destroy the city with a satellite and solar panels thing...idk. Guess it's not as bad as nuking a major US city.

Back to Raymond. Can't wait for him to turn into a giant bio-monster.

Weapons and ammo not carrying over sucks, but I guess it solves the problem of me never wanting to use my stuff out of worry about needing it later. Even in 5 I was still kinda conservative with the good stuff.

Ayyyyy this ship was based on a design by good ol' George Trevor. That explains the shotgun being acquired like that.

Enemies seem to take the exact same amount of shots every time this game. Makes it easier, but removes a bit of tension. Seems like 6 handgun bullets will put down this standard big tongue guys every time. New enemy with a projectile hand attack. Seems slow which is good.

Died to my first big monster, the Comms Officer. Gotta say I blame the controls. I hate how you cycle through your weapons and keep mixing it up. The first person view is also a pretty weird decision for this game and doesn't work with this sort of game where you can get flanked by enemies. At least you can move while you shoot.

God what a bullet sponge. Went through almost all my ammo even with hitting the explosive tanks. Guy left a "4 itchy tasty" type journal.

Oof Quint & Kieth. One of them's got a pretty annoying voice.

End of Episode 3.

Done for the night. Gonna play some DbD or maybe a lil Parasite Eve now. Grading on a handheld curve, this plays pretty great. Gives me that Peace Walker or Birth by Sleep vibe of a spinoff that's clearly limited, but doing its best to make it work while presenting a full on game and it works. IDK about this story, but the setting's nice enough.

i know revelations 2 episodes were released at different times then released as a whole game later on but im not sure about the first one but i assume it was the same on the 3DS since why else split them into episodes?

Revelations was released as one game, but it's meant to emulate the style of a soap opera, although the previously ons are also probably meant to aid 3DS users who may be playing sporadically. This emulation even extends to the dubbing; Resident Evil had only had English voice acting up to this point, but since English soap operas are dubbed in Japanese in Japan, Revelations was also dubbed in Japanese.

Both revelations games are pretty bland and boring.

They came out during Resident Evil' s descent into the fucking toilet so they seemed like masterpieces at the time. But they aren't good.

i do admit the barry/natalia sections were not as good

Resident Evil in a casino. Hmm. That should just be an entire game. I'd play that. "What if George Trevor designed a casino?"

So I can only carry 3 guns at a time, but can swap them out at the gun boxes. Seems fine since this game has been pretty easy so far. Adding mods to the guns also helps.

Good chase fight with Rachael through the vents. End of Episode 4. these episodes are just flying by.

Lord who the hell are these goofs? Am I gonna have to play as them? If so this goof music better play the entire time.

This gonna be an invisible enemy? I did just replay Amnesia.

So I was wrong earlier. Ammo and items do carry over between episodes. Good. Not that there's been a shortage of anything thus far.

Jesus Christ are you just supposed to not fight these underwater enemies cause they are downright infuriating. Can't track them at all. Figured maybe if you scanned them then you could, but nope. They just are totally invisible while under the water with no way to tell if they are gonna pop up right behind you and grab you. Went through 3 green herbs getting through there.

Alright the shock grenades seem to kill those things at least.

Well Grinder has the coolest melee weapons in the game if nothing else. Not that I've really done much melee at all. Too many enemies like to grab.

Invisible hunters. Tough fight. Not actually the first time fighting invisible hunters since I beat REmake with all invisible enemies. God I love REmake.

I hope Quint turns out to be with Velcro and I kill him.

Episode 5 down and stopping it there for now. Probably do a bit more later tonight.

What the hell is Jessica wearing? Purple striped, single leg pants? That looks like one of the goofy alternative costumes you'd unlock.

Man Chris and Jill always wanting to save each other. Why the hell don't they just stay partners?

Wow Jill's an incredibly strong swimmer. Can hold her breath for a really long time too. Good to know.

Elevator boss fight. God then a proper one that just ate up all the ammo. Another fucking bullet sponge. Beat it first try though. Seems like you're invincible when you pick up ammo or herbs, so that could be useful to cheese some stuff. I bet that boss is a lot more cake on PS4 where striffing is probably easier.

Psycho Mantis was Raymond this whole time? Well, we finally got the crew all together. How long until Chris and Jill split up? Awww yeah. Swapping partners. Getting the classic duo back together. Good.

Alright THAT'S a cool dumb 3DS gimmick. To register your fingerprint for the elevator you gotta press your finger on the touchscreen as it scans through. Thumbs up.

New virus called "The Abyss" being combined with the T-Virus. Makes the infected's bones all jelly and turns 'em to goo from what this report is saying. Codename "Ooze".

Onto Episode 9.

Defending Quint from hunters and wolves was the toughest part of the game so far. Good challenge.

Well they might be goners. Pity.

Landsdale was behind it all. Not a surprise. Also Jill exposed as pro-vax.

Alright swimming through an invisible laser field ain't great. This part sucks. I've died 5 times. I don't know where I'm supposed to go. Granted 2 of those deaths were me not knowing I had to redo the vaccination part (which is bad checkpointing) but blah.

Oh there was a window that wasn't covered. Whatever.

Episode 9 down. Feel like 10 could be the end.Don't tell me either way.

Parker thinks Jessica is sus. Hey Raymond's alive. And Parker's an idiot. Big explosion, but not really buying these offscreen deaths. They are with people who don't have the plot armor at least, so ya never know.

I guess this can count as a self destruction escape. Oh shit Parker. Wasn't expecting to just stumble across him. Cool.

Damn. Well Parker might be dead for real this time. And here's the proper mandatory self destruct sequence!

Pretty good sequence with the ship tilting and shit falling at ya. Made it with a full minute to spare.

Oh shit Episode 11 is called "Revelations".

This boss might be the new biggest in the series? I think the one on the boat in 5 was also stupid massive. Not sure which one was bigger.

Alright fuck this boss already. Aiming at these tiny incoming missiles is a pain in the dick.

Not too bad really minus missing some rockets. Just dodged the projectiles for the most part. Now a double turret section just like 5.

Shocked that wasn't the end.

My god how many times are people gonna die and come back to life in this game? Jesus. Double whammy now with Parker & Raymond again. This feels like that scene in Kung Pow where it turns out everyone is still alive, but then Wimp Lo is still dead. I guess Quint & Keith are Wimp Lo.

Another underwater section, but least we got scuba gear this time. New touch screen gimmick to to cut through the doors lol. Why do some doors have to have such elaborate paths? That's nonsense. And an insta death giant monster. Game's dragging for me a little.

Glad I saved a good chunk of Desert Eagle ammo. Barry would be proud.

Got the goods. Obvious corrupt man is done for. Glad O'Brian ended up being a solid dude. Wouldn't mind him or Parker showing back up. Don't tell me whether or not they do.

They didn't like Terragrigia because ??? and Lansdale provided them with bioweapons to give a credible threat for the FBC to neutralize and therefore rise to prominence; they turned against him after they realized they were betrayed.

Annnnd RE5 tease. That's it. All done. Another game in the RE franchise in the books. So close to catching up finally. Up next is the big one. Everyone's favorite. Highest praised. Resident Evil 6!

Post credits. There'sssss Jessica. Aw hell Raymond was with her all along. I don't think that makes any sense, but maybe I wasn't fully paying attention. There sure were a lot of twists and turns and fake deaths and surprise still being alives. Also Chris & Jill were there.

Off the top of my head, 11, but that's not comprehensive.

RE6 is one of the best selling games in the franchise
