I'm big into making my own ice cream because it allows me to make my own flavors.

I made a flavor I called "Blueberry Pancake." It's maple syrup flavored ice cream with ribbons of blueberry preserves in it.

Some other flavors I've come up with and made:
Samoa - chocolate-caramel-coconut flavored ice cream with bits of shortbread cookie
Princessatorte - green dyed marzipan flavored ice cream with ribbons of raspberry preserves in it
Persimmon Cookie - persimmon flavored icecream with rum soaked golden raisins
Bananoffee - banana and caramel flavored ice cream
Pineapple UpsideDown Cake - Caramel flavored ice cream with rum-soaked pineapple pieces

The secret to an unctuous mouth feel in my icecream is a little bit of gelatin added to the cooked creme-anglaise base. Let it cool and set over night before mixing. I use a ton of egg yolks and heavy cream to make a very rich ice cream. Most people can only handle a small gelato-size scoop.

That sounds really cool! My parents used to make ice cream sometimes when I was a kid. They had some duds, but I remember really liking their peach ice cream. You make me want to make my own and experiment. I'd love to try all those, they sound delicious.

Its a thing in Michigan too. My uncle does a lot of supplying for the states markets and stuff.

They have made the ice creams as well as those maple leaf candies

Yeah, maple syrup is pretty expensive and you need a lot of it to flavor ice cream. Hence a shot of maple extract to cheat a little and keep costs down. And then you push the balance a little more toward the cheaper option, and you get that fake taste. I've had some bad stuff too, but at least here in Vermont there tends to be kind of a (snobby?) pride thing where we try to push toward having that best maple syrup taste. but that cost tho
