Its officially official: Henry Cavill is back as Superman in the DC movie universe!

The 39-year-old star, who first originated his Superman nearly 10 years ago in 2013s Man of Steel, made the announcement moments ago. He also portrayed the character in 2016s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, 2017s Justice League, and 2021s Zack Snyders Justice League.

In a message posted on Instagram, Henry showed himself as Superman and shared a video message.

I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch Black Adam, Henry said. But now that plenty of you have I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman.

He said this new image and his cameo in Black Adam are just a very small taste of things to come.

Thank you for your support and thank you for your patience, he said. I promise it will be rewarded.

On average, I've loved DC movies way more than the average Marvel movie. Though, when they're at their best, DC and Marvel's top tier movies are pretty equal.

Let's just say that Henry Cavill's return is a major win for me.

Henry makes a great Supes, but somewhat lacks as Clark imo.

Tyler Hoechlin nails Clark and does a pretty good Supes, but not quite enough for the big screen

I'm happy about this. I really dislike a lot of Man of Steel and Snyder's take on Superman but Cavill has the potential to be a phenomenal Superman. Hopefully a new take will allow him to shine.

I always felt like he was a great Superman, just given shit material. I'm glad he'll (hopefully) get a chance to truly shine.

I watched some interviews with him around when Man of Steel came out and he actually seems like a fan of the character. There was one guy telling him that Superman was boring and that he thinks Henry Cavill will make him interesting, then Cavill totally checked him lol

As for the question. Marvel.

I'd consider myself a DC fan boy but for as much as I prefer DC's characters, worlds, mythology etc. Marvel just had more films that are better and/or more enjoyable to watch.

Hopefully he gets to play a true Superman this time.

Should've moved on in his new direction as Geralt but it's hard for anyone to turn down hundreds of millions of dollars to star as the lead regardless of quality.

I still hold Man of Steel as one of the best superhero movies to date. If they had just kept that energy going, work out a few issues here and there, man.

Cavil is the best Superman we've ever gotten. Hell the entire League was casted well in my mind, despite Ezra's recent troubles. Just write him out and replace him with Lantern and I'm good. And what happened to Wonder Woman 3 anyway?

Quick google search confirms it's still coming and Jenkins turned in a script to get approved about a week ago. If it does the script becomes the screenplay and they can start shooting in a few months? Second movie got a lot of hate for some reason, I found it enjoyable enough. Granted I know nothing of the source material so.

Publicly revealed information is not spoiler material. That's like marking a trailer that shows him in the movie if they choose to release one later. Making a public announcement makes the information public information.

It's really annoying how people try to classify spoilers in this day and age online imo.

I want DC to do better but their movies are just so lackluster

I agree. The characters were all cast well too. I'm a little iffy of Lois but I honestly hate lois anyway. Call me a weirdo but I was a fan of Clark and Diana. Lois was annoying in comparison.

I was worried about the Man of Steel but the fight scenes were all amazing! Ugh I loved this movie.
