I'd consider anything in the PS2/GameCube/OG Xbox era retro. Seems we get a lot of remasters for PS3/360 games these days which I'd otherwise say could be considered retro at this point.

I'd say retro is subjective to what you grew up with. For me retro is 16 bit and prior. But even then, playing Genesis retro was text adventures on my CoCo 2.

Videogames have only been a mass medium for about fifty years. "Retro" is still being defined.

As-is, I'd consider any platform that didn't have a stock HDMI port automatically retro.

Games like GTA San Andreas, Super Mario Sunshine, Halo 2 and God of War 2 are now retro. I feel old.

It doesnt feel that long ago. That is like saying Brokeback Mountain is an old school movie.

Retro is hitting a weird era where games that are just falling into that category are hideous because they're in that weird era of early attempts at 3D modeling. Sprite work has quite simply just aged far better which is why there's so much more nostalgia for SNES era games vs PS1 games.
