That's how impressed I am with their ability to handle a port, goddamn.

Legitimately a "Tony Stark built this in a cave with a box of scraps" level accomplishment. Really makes the rest of the switch's ported library look awful by comparison too.

Good for them but why is that so momentous, persona 5 is only like 20-30 gb. It's not like those western games like AC odyssey which are 150 gb total.

It's a simple but stylish game that uses its performance to its advantage without bloat

Because games that shouldn't run like shit still run like shit on switch. The optimization of most ports is non-existent. The Spyro Reignited trilogy shouldn't look or feel like shit on Switch, but it does.

That's why encountering a game that doesn't hit you with constant frame drops is regarded like finding the holy grail.

Was about to say - Persona 5 was literally released on a console that was objectively weaker than the Switch (the PS3).

Hell, just look at the difference between the PS3 and Switch versions of Skyrim. It runs at a higher resolution and frame rate and higher graphical settings on Switch. If the PS3 could handle Persona 5, Switch should have been able to with ease.

Dude Persona 5 was on PS3.

Not really much of an accomplishment.

Witcher 3, Nier Automata, DOOM or No Man's Sky are better examples methinks.

If we're gonna give out awards for miracle ports - it probably goes to Doom Eternal. The fact that it even runs at all is a testament both to Panic Button (the developer) and Doom Eternal's insanely optimized engine.

Alien Isolation also gets a nod - not because it was an impossible port or anything, but because it actually looks better on Switch than it does on PS4 and Xbox One thanks to significantly better antialiasing.

I guess I've just been conditioned into expecting the absolute worst quality switch ports imaginable, given that's seemingly been the standard up until this point.
