My family is horrible when it comes to my journey . They came to visit me last weekand they were all like . Here CJ we made this Sweet tea for you, I picked you up an extra order of chicken wings. Ect. There is a lot of worst stuff a family can do. But let just say they ain't helping lol

Lol that is the right face for this . And i am going to visit them this weekend since my mom needs me to drive some places. I smell her home cooking now.

I told my mom I am going to take her to the doctor from my 600 pound life so he can call her an enabler

I'm not even trying to lose weight but I get that at family gatherings all the time lol

My father and mother abused me with food throughout my childhood, forcing me to eat multiple heaping portions of low quality food like hamburger helper and macaroni and hot dogs, then ruthlessly berated me over my weight. So now I have all kinds of eating disorders and my mom is dead but I ignore my dad and his new wife when they try and call me. I hate just missing the call, I want them to know Im actively rejecting them.

Fuckin bastards.

my dad has a huge sweet tooth and my mom is an enabler, and we go to this food bank that always gives out a bakery item with their weekly fruit and veggie and bread bag, so yeah, it's been a challenge

Yeah, they were fine with me not eating junk food, but concerned I wasn't eating enough in general.

Like, I've still had a gut the entire time I've been exercising. I've never been close to looking underweight or malnourished.

Unhelpful... when I did finally manage to drop some weight they made it sound like it was "easy" for me.

Thank you, despite that Im actually doing quite well these days, but its the result of constant daily effort. Its mostly frustrating lately because Im starting to see that I have quite a few enviable genetic features, but I got saddled with shitbag parents that never had any interest in my development beyond using me as a slave / punching bag as often as they could.

This too, when I started making progress and still spoke to them, it was a constant barrage about how lucky I was that it was so easy for me to lose weight, as if I wasnt expending a tremendous amount of effort every single day.

Shitty to me when I was 350 ibs

Teased and needled me relentlessly while I spent a year and a half losing the weight

Finally decent to me when I reached 180

It really wasn't all that different than most other people I knew, at the time. Everyone always talks about how empowering and confidence boosting it is to go from being overweight to healthy, but mostly it just made me more jaded. The thinner I got, the better people started treating me, friends, family, and strangers alike. More than anything else it was an eye opener to how shitty people had been before (I'd been overweight most of my life, and didn't have much frame of reference). Ironically enough, thr better treatment came out feeling like a net negative.

One of the biggest reasons why the "I'm shitty to fat people to encourage them to lose weight" excuse gets a big "Fuck Off" from me.

Made it super easy to pick and choose which relationships to keep, I guess.

Yeah, it's annoying that they don't offen get that I'm not hungry now since I had my calories earlier. I know they're just being polite, but it gets a bit irritating sometimes.

You are so right, I use to be buff and was treated so differently. And at least for me just the over all tone of people. Less likely to respect or even see you. It a damn shame how ppl treat others. I hope I never was like that in my "better" days

Very supportive. My coworkers on the other hand always claim I'm wasting my time. Meanwhile I've dropped 25lbs and couldn't care less about what coworkers have to say because I'm not doing it for them. So fuck em.

The worst thing a fat person who wants to lose weight can do is be around other fat people who don't care that they're fat.

I was never overweight, but I was slightly heaver than I wanted to be and lost about 25 lbs since the beginning of the year.
My wife was super concerned about how I was eating and would get grumpy if she picked up doughnuts and I said I didn't want one. She was even telling me she was concerned I might be underweight when I had just had a physical earlier in the week where I was told that my weight was great.

Two of my siblings have been very helpful, including one I couldn't have done it without. Everyone else was garbage in general, so I didn't have a problem telling them to fuck off and leave me alone.

Never had people discourage it but any holiday gatherings its basically a force feeding

Supremely unhelpful in the food department. But they're good about being encouraging.

Fuckin atrocious. They offer to buy fast food or pizza or something else unhealthy for the family, which is fine, except they do it way more often now that they know I'm trying to lose weight.

I know they're trying to get me to eat because they're like "well if you get this it's not *that* bad for you" as if it's not still pizza -_-
