I'll be home but the answer still is no. I generally ignore anyone who knocks on my door uninvited. Although if It'll be anything like the previous years I doubt anyone will even knock on my door on Halloween.

I hope someone wants candy. We live in a complex and had one kid last year.
I feel like i see more kids, so maybe 4 this year. I have plenty of candy and will share.

Nah, as long as your outside light is off no one will knock on your door.

I used to, but I only get like 3-4 actual kids and the rest are teenagers and I would rather not buy candy to hand out to a bunch of teenagers with no costumes.

I'm in an apartment now and there are lots of kids around here so I wonder what it will be like. I hope I don't have to ignore tons of knocking.

I remember back when I was a kid, a lit Jack o lantern meant the house was giving out candy. No/unlit Jack o Lantern meant no candy. Nowadays kids approach houses if lights are on.

Nope; there hasn't been a Trick-or-Treater here in almost 20 years. Still, there's a basket of candy set out near the entryway every year, just in case.

I'll have candy on hand but we haven't had kids the last few years. Since we've been in this house we've only had one year where we had a decent amount of kids come by.

I haven't given out candy for years.

Even when kids did come to my house, I'd only ever get like 2-3 people anyway. And over the last 15 years or so trick or treating as a thing has kind of been dying off entirely (parents take their little kids to "trunk or treat" at school, and nobody else really seems to bother). So it's not worth buying candy.

So I just leave my house lights off so people assume no one's home and don't bother coming up. Especially since I don't decorate.

I'm starting to wonder if parents are just becoming worse.
I hear it's crazy out there or they take their kids to something easy.
The spirit shouldn't be purely put on the kids. The parents should do more.

I'll be working. We haven't had trick or treaters in years though for some reason. It's just a dead area. I think everybody just drives to the other neighborhoods.

I live where we don't see trick or treaters. But, we had our own little Halloween party for the family kids last night. Because of the pandemic we were not able to trick or treat last year so we had a little party. Also one child ( there are only 2), has treenut and peanut allergies so this way we know all candies are safe.
Anyway, I guess this will be a yearly thing. The kids played games and got prizes and had loads of fun. One was a black cat and the little boy was Super Sayain Goku.

The spirit shouldn't be purely put on the kids. The parents should do more.

To play Devil's Advocate, when I was a young kid I was really shy - so going up to the doors of random strangers to beg for candy was like living hell. In spite of the fact that I always enjoyed dressing up, I never really wanted to go trick or treating. My parents would occasionally kind of nudge me into going, but it was usually tense at best and miserable at worst. I vaguely remember one year where I basically bordered on having a panic attack over it.

So with kids today being even more shut-in and prone to social anxiety I could see things being even worse for them. So maybe parents shouldn't be forcing their kids to go out and knock on random doors anyway.

Doing stuff like "trunk or treat" at school is one way to compensate for that sort of problem, and kids who live in housing developments where they know a lot of their neighbors (or can trick or treat in larger groups of friends) probably have things easier, but I do feel like the kids need to be the ones who decide for themselves whether or not they care about going out.
