close to supporting Rabi-Ribi since there was a surprising amount of overlap with my set from last time but of the 3R2 songs specifically, three of them were on my set but my favourite one didn't get included at all... i get that you probably don't want to drop the opening theme but i'd pick melting point over it easily (or sd/tns/mm)

also would like to vouch for watson's midstream jam and/or rabi ribi ravine v1 on the set somewhere (even if only alts) and for sky high bridge over warp destination since it's my favourite triodust song but i'm also not going to push that one that hard since i'm not sure whether others would agree with the change @MasayoshiSoken

- i already told uf8 this but i would grind in the places where route 47 played even when it was absolutely pointless due to being severely overleveled for the area JUST so i could hear this route theme it is so great to me. one of my favorite hitomi sato songs i like her.

Thunder Force IV
- my tfiv preferences lean strong toward the fusion ones rather than metal, but Sand Hell and The Sky Line are absolutely the fusion style i love from this ost! i'd also never been exposed to "Thunder Force IV -Super Arr Ver. Radio Edit Plus-" before, but i'm thankful to have been now! i wouldn't expect to like it because so much of what i like about tfiv is it existing within the context of sega genesis music, one of my favorite consoles with a sound format i adore, but this arrange is a great medley and does lots of stuff i love. haha the Space Walk section at 2:16 is so fun

- Aria Math is appealing quite well to my tuned percussion bias~! also always liked Axolotl pretty well

- titanic monarch 1 is just that great to me 10/10, thank you music. 38th favorite song in the world

- Southwester Saxophone reminds me of some other FM song i like a lot, but i'm not sure what, but i like whatever song it is that it reminds me of. pc98 music is fun!!

Mystic Warriors: Wrath of the Ninjas
- omg WHAT are some of these chord changes in Up to the Stratosphere they're super namiki (though i suppose i have heard them in yuji takenouchi songs too). very emotionally powerful track to me, all these unexpected turns just lift me up. i am sleepy at the time i was on this one, so i was fdalling asleep for an unknown amount of time between every song, but this soundtrack was very useful for making sure i had the motivation to not completely fall asleep altogether because i was determined to listen to this amazing musicb efore i and it is loud

Ragnarok Online
- soundtemp FOR REAL this time; and again, i haven't listened to them as much as i should because i know i like what they can do. but this game is making me think i should take checking them out more seriously. Steel Me is reminding me of "Electric Power Building" or something SOMETHING by sakimoto, and i like sakimoto, so that's good in my books!

Touhou Shinjutou ~ Hollow Song of Birds
- another case where i'd be able to tell this is an FL81 game even if i wasn't looking! oh man I remember lotus maze from the rse-style remix for my ranking topic.

Mages of Mystralia
- the marimbas panning between the left and right speakers in "The Rise" are really cool to me; lots of tuned percussion in general which i have expressed liking quite a bit in my posts this year it seems

- it's hard to beat MASSIVE X for me. transposy chord changes are just so fun to me; and the weird way the melody works around them is beautiful to me. Yasui excels are neat energetic FM sound design and this is an example where it just clicks right for me.

- i like midi files; The Recluse is like if silent hill 2 vocal songs were made with a $0 budget because of the tremolo effect on the guitar and echoy voice and i think that's pretty cool. this set is taking the term "indie game" to new heights

Mighty Switch Force 2
- hmm soft collision has clearly grown on me since it was in a vgmc; i like it way more than i remembered! probably my fav here. the funky syncopation on top of these little sporadic bursts of thick punches of chill chords while being a GROOVE that's like . still such a complex groove impossible to parse any individual element of. it's "cool"

Jazz Jackrabbit 2
- Dark Groove is one of the most powerful songs ever written to me for real. It's the one song that's remained in my top handful of favs from this game even though everything else totally shuffled around over time. Lately I've been getting back into dark music by actual 80s synth people like Tangerine Dream (who Alexander Brandon has indicated he even considers an influence); and this is precisely what I want out of that sound!

Utawarerumono: Mask of Truth
- god i love oboes...they are making me sad (happy) in "Utawarerumono: Kuon", along with the quiet sitars and esoteric percussion/winds scattered throughout. really beautiful piece

DEVIL MAY CRY 3: DANTE'S AWAKENING
- as someone who considers "Limit Break" from final fantasy 13-2 to be one of my favorite vgm songs; it's a crime i've not listened to the other work out there featuring Shootie HG. i love 'edgy' stuff so this ost is hitting pretty well with me! Taste the Blood is probably my slight favorite here for some admittedly silly reasons, but it uses some synth presets i recognize from other songs that i've loved for a long time, so becomes retroactively nostalgaic even though i didn't grow up with this or anything.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze
- scorch n torch is so "moody" and i like that a lot. the beginning almost feels like it could be in something like muramasa or shadow hearts

Shin Megami Tensei IV
- the funky metallic loop in battle b2 has been a hit with me ever since i first heard it. oh and those parallel harmonized synth hits right after god this song is so epic

Sad part is never actually appears in-game. It's a mix of a song from an earlier game and went unused, but I knew I had to get it into the line-up. I'm glad you liked it and I hope a few other people get to listen to it soon as well.

El Shaddai (flower arrangement is the only track I didn't like. Also I'm gonna rant about the TL now: there is nothing worse than watching something that is clearly either a machine translation or someone doing a bunch of dictionary lookups. It's just so uninspired! "The Faraway Creation" is almost right -- except it's creation as in "heaven and earth," while the definite article in the English is going to make you think of a much smaller creation. "Hisou-naru Sakebi" is more like "a grim cry" than "tragic scream," and if "A Mirror Reflecting Images" sounds like a really vapid title, well that's because it should be "A Mirror Reflecting Falsehoods." Or more naturally (though less literally), simply "The False Mirror." "Saint, Sleep Peacefully" misses the very deliberate analogy to "Rest In Peace," while "Resonance of Heaven and Earth" is strange in that it's basically the same term that was translated as "Creation" in the earlier song and I like consistency in those things. "Facing the Sanctuary" should probably be more like "On the Edge of Sanctuary" (I think it's a play on a phrase meaning "standing on the edge of the abyss"? Though maybe my idea isn't quite right either...). Echoes of the Gods is a good name though I like that one.

Not gonna lie could pretty nom the whole OST so I'm super flexible on changes. Tried to go for a bit of a mix in vibe here from more jazzy to Red Mist going hard. Hod and Malkuth Battle are 3 part songs that variably change inbattle but rather than go with the whole song I just singled out the 3rd part because I think they'd appeal best. Conversely, Keter, Angela, and Tiphereth could be broken into their smaller components if anyone feels like it'd better if just one particular section got in.

So I heard some people talking about the inevitable lamenting of getting few nominations in. Being the great guy that I am, I decided to end my decade-ish retirement in BOST to drop in two nominations that will not make it in and probably get little to no support in order to help out the collective mental health of our community and those visiting. Yeah. I could definitely reduce the multi-phase ones down to one if that's what the people want. The way I went about it there was where I thought a particular part seemed to stand out as most appealing I isolated it to that part and kept intact some of the others where I thought they were pretty strong throughout or would feel abrupt to just drop you in the middle there.

But could definitely change things up. Already hearing I should put Iron Lotus in so that'll happen later but I'll wait for more opinions if they come to have a better sense of what changes to make all at once instead of just making a bunch of small ones as they come up.

While it is a remade version of Through the Trees from Shantae: Risky's Revenge (check that out if you like the idea of a crunchier version of this song), I swear it was used in-game for an out-of-the-way challenge room in either Propellor Town or Saliva Island... my inability to find footage of this on YouTube is giving me doubt, though...
