I thought he was canceled and on his own. Surprising of SNL to just pick him up for this.

Chappelle is still funny when he's not conflating gender with sex, but I'm not going to tolerate a full episode of SNL just to see him.

Is anyone going to give Dave a chance to redeem himself? He is still a very intelligent and empathetic person. He doesn't have the narcissistic ego of a Kanye, Elon, or Kyrie. If anyone with some problematic opinions could change for the better, I'd pick him over a lot of alt right / alt right adjacent celebrities.

Alot of posts in this topic just show how transphobia can easily be overlooked but any other discrimination is NO NO.

I caught yesterday's SNL. Was the first time in decades I watched it all the way through. Even though I don't find Amy Schumer funny, I felt it was a fun show to watch. Ready for next week I guess.

Someone has to show actual effort or interest in doing so if they want redemption. Why should people give him the benefit of the doubt when he's done nothing but double and triple down on the transphobic stuff?

You'd be correct. But I know enough from others who did, to know that he went from a funny guy to just some old has-been that is trying to bank off of a group who is less fortunate than he is.

You are oversimplying things. Elon Musk is the richest person in the world with problematic conservative views that can heavily impact our entire world. Kanye is a mentally ill alt right moron with many powerful bridges and stans who still look up to him and parody everything he says in a huge problematic number. Kyrie Irving is the same minus the mental illness, but he also is one of the heads of the players union so a lot of other NBA players choose to stay quiet and inadvertently fuel the racism of non-black people thinking they all must be antisemitic.

Dave Chappelle is a progressive comedian with a few problematic opinions he never took to anything but making money off his specials. He is level headed and understanding and fully capable of becoming a better person free from his previous world view when it came to trans folk and the LGBT.

He was just the first famous even though hes a horrible person I thought of off-hand. If you want more there are quite a lot of directors, OJ, almost all billionaires, Sean Connery, (probably) MJ. I also dont know all that many celebrities lol.
