Staying with some friends this weekend and there are several games going on. Just in the last few minutes, one guy has put a card on his head because it gives an extra effect of some sort, one guy brought his phone over to tell us it was now an illusory flying creature, and one guy put a sticker on his card and told us to rate it out of 5.

From the perspective of someone who knows nothing about the game, this all just seems like Calvinball.

They were playing with Un- set cards, which are deliberately goofy and weird, and generally speaking a blast to play. Actual magic has very concrete rules and generally speaking makes sense. Lands pay for spells, spells do things, do what spell says.
