Is there a reason they don't just do what every other show with music rights problems does, and guts the soul of the episodes by replacing licensed songs with stock shit? >_>

Probably don't see money in editing it and releasing it. I personally think there is an audience for it though.

Is it just the theme song or were songs a prominent part of the show? I don't remember much of it that I remember any songs and shit during episodes.

All they need to do is get exclusive rights to the song "Two Princes". Go back and edit every single other piece of music out (including the intro) and replace it with Two Princes.

They will sell a billion dollars worth of sets.

It had a decent amount of musical numbers with characters mouthing the words. Not sure a music swap would fix that.

Are there that many songs in it? The only ones I remember were the three intros. That one episode where they were strippers probably had music during the courtroom scene too Id imagine, but thats still only a handful of songs.

I remember on one recent cross-Pacific flight I took they had a few episodes as in-flight entertainment, but I suppose they probably picked ones that didnt have any music (I think they shortened Cleveland Rocks to just the Ohio!! soundbyte at the end).

Lot of songs and numbers featured throughout the series. Apparently a lot of quoting song lyrics as well.

There were a few song episodes with music numbers in it. They play Time Warp, Shake Your Groove Thing, What is Hip, and Ain't Seen Nothing Yet. I think there was a Devil Went Down to Georgia episode, but maybe I'm remembering another show.

As for the intro, maybe they could just use the "Moon Over Parma" intro for the whole thing?

Oh wait, there was a Drew Carey Show album?

since he is on everyday, you think there is a good amount of people that would want his show on streaming services

Music rights always cause problems for tv shows. Cold Case had a similar problem. For almost 20 years it was not on streaming or DVD. Every episode deals with an old murder and they use music from the year of the murder as the soundtrack.

It now apparently is on hbo max. But I have not tried to watch it. I dont know if the music is intact. If it isn't, it really ruins the show

There was one episode where Mimi was blasting Van Halen- Panama outside of Drew's house for several days, and they say the name of the song several times so they can't really edit the song out with something generic

Hey, it's 8:05 on a Wednesday evening, and that was "Panama," by Van Halen. Earlier we heard "Panama" by Van Halen. Starting off the set this evening with "Panama" by Van Halen. A little later we're going to hear "Panama" by Van Halen. And right now, a special dedication from Mimi to Drew, with a message, "Hit the road, Jack!" - it's "Panama" by Van Halen.

It was actually a pretty good show. I doubt I'd buy it on DVD though. Would love to see it on streaming with all of the music intact.

Its owned by Warner Bros too which cancelled Batgirl and all the shows. So No way they going to try to spend the money to either negotiate the royalties or edit the show with generic music.

I saw Scrubs which is a show that had its music redited to feature generic music on streaming sites and it just isnt the same.

I wish I had the opportunity to see Scrubs as it was airing. By the time I got to it, it was through syndication which had already changed the music.

Some of the shows Warner Bros make they license it out to other networks Ted Lasso and Abbott Elementary are two modern examples. An old school one is Friends.
