God bless 'em, but they should not have tried to have a dramatic scene where Laurie Metcalf is just acting circles around the rest of 'em lol.

they should have had sarah chalke and the original becky switch places randomly like in the original show

like every episode you wouldnt know who was playing becky until they walked on screen

Sarah Chalke actually showed up in the last season of Roseanne and played a different character, a woman that wanted to pay the other Becky to be a surrogate Mother for her

I agree though, not knowing which Becky was going to show up would have been fun

Damn I kinda want to see this episode now just to see how things played out from here.

Also pretty insane that Bev, Roseanne's Mom, reprised her role in the S10 reboot.

She's still alive and is 95 years old today.

No I don't think so. Most of the stuff from the last season or two of Roseanne was retconned in the continuation season

Also Roseanna had a 4th child in the original show that I don't think was ever mentioned in the new version of the show

Ah, that makes sense.

I had it backwards too. I was thinking she'd be gay because she was "in real life," but that was Jackie. And I'm sure they didn't make Jackie gay.

Bev actually did come out as lesbian in the S9 I think

And I think they made Jackie gay in the original Season finale when Roseanne revealed that the entire show was her writing a story, and Jackie was actually gay in that version

Needless to say, the show's continuity is pretty wild

in the S10 premiere there was a brief joke with Dan saying something like "why does everyone always think i'm dead?"

and then they moved on from there

And honestly, I feel like that was the best way to handle. No way to seriously fix it so just chuckle and wave it away.

The actress might have been saner, but second Aunt Viv was way worse. I don't know why they felt the need to change her character when they changed the actress.

The original series touched on a lot of subjects that haven't been represented before or after. Roseanne as a series was generally comedic, but took on a far more serious and real tone at times than anything else on TV.

It's truly a shame that Roseanne ended up as the kind of person she is. It's a massive disservice to the people she represented.

It wasn't even really a "straw that broke the camel's back" situation. It's more of a reverse Boy That Cried Wolf situation, where she's had so many of these things that were "small" or "jokes" that just finally had context that couldnt be ignored.

I dont know if she knew the lady was black and I dont care either way. When you have that many racist oopsies, you just dont call people monkeys.

Yeah, that's partly why I was giving her the benefit of the doubt. It had an episode about internalized racism in 1994. They introduced a recurring gay character in 1991 and he wasn't a stereotype, him being an asshole boss was much more prominent. Hell, Roseanne herself kissed a woman in an episode and it caused a huge outrage. It was woke before woke was a thing.

So it's just saddening to see how she ended up.
