My dad gave me hard time for preferring anime to western cartoons. He wondered why I didn't like the MIB cartoon even though it looked like it was drawn with mud.

It was the same for my family when it comes to video game rentals every friday.

My dad played just as much video games as my brother and I, so every single friday he would rent a video game and take it back sunday. He did this from the NES gen up to the playstation. Honestly, I would say about 85 percent of all the games my family played on the NES, SNES, genesis, N64, and playstation were rentals.

He hated rpgs though lol, so if he spotted a new rpg he would rent that just for my brother and I to play while he rented a second game for himself.

But yeah, we pretty much did the same thing.....you play that rental as much as you possibly can, and occasionally my brother and I would put our money together to rent it twice if it was a long game. Hell loading up a rented copy and browsing someone else's save file was fun......its how we discovered hard to get optional party members like umaro and gigi in final fantasy 6(3) was even a thing.

The 80's were great because they'd loosened regulations about programming with toy tie-ins and also hadn't established stricter educational requirements.

Transformers (G1)... more than meets the eye.
Thundercats
Silverhawks
Bionic 6
Battle of the Planets or G-Force: Guardians of Space (whichever version)
Loony Tunes
Superfriends
Scooby-Doo
Thundarr the Barbarian
etc.

Off the top of my head.

And both G-Force and the Superfriends could kick the Power Rangers ass.

Nah. We had good stuff like the 2000s TMNT, Yugioh, Power Rangers, Medabots, Pokemon, Digimon, Xiaolin Showdown, Static Shock, Batman Beyond, Jackie Chan Adventures, X Men Evolution, etc

Mid-late 90s was literally the single best point in history and nothing will change my mind.

I openly told people at the time, "This will be our Roaring 20's"
They sort of understood what I meant, but didn't seem to understand what I was saying.

Well, at least to this point I was correct, more so than I wish I was.
I knew that couldn't last, but I didn't expect this level of open dystopia.

9/11 and Social Media really put things into overdrive.
