To lump them all in as simply "American" is silly, and I feel diminishes the contribution of various groups of people to the USA's 250-year or so history. Which America are you talking about anyway? People hold onto their rubbish until they get to a trash can instead of tossing it wherever the hell they please making for a much nicer environment. And they take care of their surroundings; the public restrooms are very clean and even have heated toilet seats.
