In his ideal world nobodys sad or whatever, how does this stop all war, disputes, mental illness, etc..
Everyone is supposed to co-exist in this new world but how does it work when you force someone to do something they don't want to? Like if your reality has you married to Jessica Alba for example, and THEIR reality is them married to Brad Pitt, does it just spit out another Jessica alba? How will the marriage licenses work? Etc..

Basically; all the talk about wanting to make people have their ideal reality was bullshit. Maruki in game basically forces people to have the thoughts and wants that he feels would work to make them happy. It's mentioned in game that there was a guy that wanted to go into archery, but Maruki didn't think that was right so made him wanna be a writer instead.

So in his version of reality, if one person wanted to marry Jessica Alba, and she wanted to marry Brad Pitt he'd just...warp one of their realities and cognition so they no longer wanted that. Thus avoiding the issue entirely

If you see the ending where you miss the deadline, you can see why letting him dictate reality is a terrible idea. No 1 person should be able to have control over your life, no matter how well intentioned they might be.

Yeah the writers either didn't want people to think too hard about how it works or it's like they are forced to be happy and anything that makes them sad like someone being taken is forced out of them and they find happiness in something everyone can share idfk
Probably the first one. I can accept a degree of suspense in a game with talking cats turning into cars and helicopters, but the world is still a big fucking place and ironically you even still get mementos requests during Marukis reign, so he's not all powerful.

That ending is probably the biggest evidence that Maruki doesn't have enough power to make his reality true and everyone happy. There is reason his persona is Azathoh, "The Blind Idiot God"
