I thought the Titans were screwed because of injuries. Oh well.
Titans aren't covering *too* well, Rodgers just can't make the throws.

Okay, that's game, set, and season.

Who should be fired first?
  1. Brian Gutekunst, for failing to recognize that Egomaniac was becoming dead weight, thus keeping him and his huge cap hit instead of trading him for a massive payday to secure the team's future.
  2. Matt LaFleur, for his inability to lead a team and poor game management under adversity (including using ALL THREE timeouts too soon)
  3. Egomaniac, for his prima donna attitude, increasingly worse throwing ability, consistent blaming of teammates, and him-first, team-third attitude.

Rodgers inability to make basic throws in the second half is the #1 thing that doomed them, so yes. They weren't even close either.

Packers are stuck with Rodgers (unless he retires, which is unlikely) for the same reason the Broncos are stuck with Wilson. Nobody is going to trade for that contract with a QB who is clearly in decline.

(Although Rodgers appeared to be in decline before he won the MVP the last two seasons so who knows)

Not that it mattered, but it meant that we couldn't challenge the Lazard incomplete call or back-to-back bad spots by the officials leading to the turnover on downs.

Anyway, time to stick a fork in the Packers and laugh at Mike McCarthy for losing to this Lions-caliber team.

Anyway, big win for Tennessee. It was especially encouraging to see Tannehill play well, and let's hope the injury to Autry isn't too serious. Maybe one of these years, Vegas will stop undervaluing them in betting lines.

also Green Bay's playoff hopes are effectively over with that loss, especially if the NFC Beast sweeps (not a given, of course, with Dallas playing the Vikings and I have a sneaking suspicion the Lions are going to give the Giants problems)

Looked like the last call was good because it looked like he voluntarily gave up the first down yardage before being brought down.

Eh, I don't think they got the first down on either play, and I highly doubt a challenge would've overturned them regardless.

The spread is only three for a reason. I learned something interesting about the Giants today though. The FPI/general metrics hate the Giants so much that they would be the underdog on a neutral field against 24 other teams. This even includes teams like the Saints and Rams!

#1 is just silly. Hes built a very good roster.

Nah, I think you can blame him plenty for being stubborn about refusing to trade for someone at the trade deadline or refusing to draft a WR high in the draft because "that's not what the Packers do"

This is why I brought up Gutekunst's job security.

He could have traded Egomaniac to Denver, and got the package Seattle ultimately did for Wilson. Denver's record wouldn't be any better, Packers fans would be fine with the 4-7 record this year, and we'd be better equipped for things to improve quickly. Fans are impatient so they can really only tolerate one year of rebuilding before they start clamoring to fire people, though IDK if we'd be back to form without a better QB than Loverboy. And frankly... I'd like to see what Loverboy can do, now that he's been under Egomaniac for a while.

The Giants were considered the worst team in the NFL by DVOA when they were 6-1. Not sure if it's changed in the last couple weeks though, but I'm sure they're still near the bottom.

Yeah, Watson didn't get the first I don't think, but he was close enough when contacted that if they spotted the ball there, Jones would have definitely had it on 4th. Instead they marked Watson short by almost a yard of where he was pushed backward.

Edit: Again, none of this was going to matter since we still needed to score plus onside, but just pointing out that using all your timeouts with over 5 minutes left is pointless, and, more than that, stupid because you have no challenges left.

Having watched their entire game against the Jaguars, I came out thinking the Jaguars were pretty obviously the better team.

And they have 4 less wins than the Giants do.

(As a reminder I currently have them going 9-8 and missing the playoffs entirely)

Ugly win against Detroit in a Jaguars like game.
10+ loss to Dallas.
8 point loss to the Eagles that feels like a 20 point loss.
Split with Washington
10+ loss to Minnesota
Ugly gagged away game to the Colts in a panic game under the pressure of losing 4 of their last 5. Expect 3 or more turnovers
Blowout loss to the Eagles

That's my Giants projection. From 8-2 to 9-8.

I actually kinda think this season has been a disaster for them. The plan was supposed to be to scrap almost everything.

Now they're going to feel compelled to "give it another shot", and unless their schedule is a joke again it's a ticket back to 5-12 irrelevancy.

Eh, now that the GM isn't Gettleman, I think they'll be able to see through the analytics that they aren't as good as they appear. They probably still move on from Daniel Jones at the end of the season because Daboll can tell them what he's doing with him is a mirage.

Early reports are that Autry's injury is not season-ending (whew), but no indication yet of how much time he's expected to miss.

Autry is one of four Titans players who has played (not started, just played) in every game the last two seasons, and that number will probably shrink to three now.

Speaking of receivers, Goedert is going to miss more games than previously expected, and probably won't be back until their game at Dallas at the earliest. Curious to see how they'll adjust to losing one of their top receivers.

But a lotta names are either coming back or probably in: Both Allen and Williams are expected back for the Chargers. Hopkins is expected to play. Devante Adams is expected to play.

Everyone watching knew that game was over at halftime (despite the Jets leading), and everyone watching saw the Jets also knew that in the second half. I was working during the second half, but I still remember exactly what someone on Discord said: "The Jets played the entire second half like a team that expected to lose." That's just scathing.

I'm picking the under because I'd be surprised if they score any more than 10 here. It took trash time for them to do it last time.

I'm actually cautiously optimistic about this game because as Leon said they're the better team.

They don't have that pick six called back at the end of the half in the first game I think they win it. But the moment it was you knew they were done for despite them still leading.

Wilson seemed to take the lessons from that game to heart in the Bills game hopefully he didn't forget during the bye. >_>

The issue here isn't talent. The Jets are the more talented team.

But the Jets are also mentally fragile. I have no reason to believe things won't snowball completely to shit the moment a single dumbass mistake is made. Wilson's godawful INT to set off that non pick-six was the start of a long chain of failures where even the punter and kicker got in on it.

Yeah, but I think if they get that pick-six they stabilize even after that INT. You're right that they're fragile so pretty much any dumb mistake has a chance to cause a death spiral but they also possess the ability to maybe survive them if they don't let them stack up in succession... but they often do so lol.

I mean, maybe that requires the opponent to make their own dumb mistake so it's out of their hands and a Belichick team isn't likely to give you those but it's almost like the faintest embers of hope have reignited in me with this team.

it's dangerous

that was the longest 4th down

Jets punt. But illegal man downfield so replay.
Jets punt. But running into the kicker (the 5 yard not the 15 yard one even though I rarely see it called but I digress) Replay.
Jets punt. Flag thrown as there's contact to the fair catch and the ball bounces off a (Jets) helmet. After a discussion no flag because the contact was engaged in a block.

felt like it took 6 or 7 minutes

Was ok with that being the 5 yard variant.

Pats just fumbled the ball for absolutely no reason and the Jets somehow completely botched the recovery.

It's a tie they both failed.
