How come no one is complaining about how rare it is for a woman to propose to a man?

Can feminists explain this one?

Im not really seeing a drawback for men here. If you dont want to propose, you just dont.

Just transition! Its what I did. Bingo-bongo, so simple, now no one expects me to make marriage proposals!

Usually the Twitter crowd still attacks women who propose. They see it was a woman somehow 'failing' by making the move herself.

Imagine thinking its not overwhelmingly men making marriage proposals.

I honestly wish women would sometimes make the first move. I've heard a few girls say they used to have crushes on me. It'd be cool to know but then again, they possibly didn't want to act on it since I know girls having a crush on guys can be different than the opposite.

But if a girl likes me, I wish it was cool for them to ask because I'm always going to be that guy who doesn't step forward as it was never my type of thing. My ex fiance and I dated because I knew beforehand that she liked me from her friend...

Strangely, this is why.

When a guy proposes, it needs to be a gigantic and usually public spectacle for some reason.

When a gal proposes:
"We should get married"

Yeah, me and the lady walked past a wedding on the beach a month+ ago, and she started asking me questions about weddings and we had a nice conversation.
Then maybe 2-3 weeks ago we were talking on the phone and she just comes out and says she considers me partner material, but doesn't consider herself partner material due to her health, which breaks my gay little heart.
It would be years before we could even do anything.

Being a lesbian is great, 10/10, would recommend.

I've never heard this from anyone under 60 or so.

I mean proposals are generally unnecessary. My husband and I had open discussions about it, agreed on a timeline for when we were ready and shopped for a ring together. He proposed with it for the gesture but I pretty much figured he was doing it. The whole will you marry me stuff isnt needed though.

men have such a low bar for marriage and marriage related things, like they basically never involve themselves in wedding planning, so when women say "i just want you to ask" like it's honestly such a low expectation already.

I guess my question is why is the fact that women are expected to do most of the wedding planning work considered okay?

Women can marry each other now

proposals are almost always a mutual discussion, with the act itself being 90% spectacle

the only thing to think about with respect to it is whether that discussion took the form of "you're going to do this" vs "are we ready to do this?"
