Lets try a more serious topic, since a mod got offended last time around.

I legit thought the site would naturally break down by now, based on everything I read on Reddit and such (thousands leaving, Elon preventing physical and remote access, etc.) but site still works just fine. Any software engineers here to explain how a complex piece of software just works with no one maintaining it?

Define "fails." Hits the death spiral it won't recover from? Already hit it. Loses so many users that it finally goes away from common lexicon? Probably about a year and a half. Literally stops being a site? Myspace is still a site: sites like this don't shut down, they just limp along while no one actually uses them (*insert GFaqs riff here*).

I guess I meant it stops working, as people predicted will happen by now because no ones working. Also, Im surprised theres no good alternative already.

I give it till early next year.

Elon sent out an ultimatum- sign this pledge that youll work hardcore, or get fired now with a 3-month severance. Reports say thousands of employees chose the latter and left. Elon then kicked everyone out of the office and removed remote access because he allegedly feared sabotage. So for like 2 days, no one worked on Twitter. This is what led to a lot of people speculating Twitter will literally fall apart and be unusable by now (which obviously is proven false).

Elon apparently ordered everyone whos still working to come into the office last night though

Basically a complete shit show.

just because Twitter hasn't stopped working yet doesn't mean that it's not in a complete freefall right now and stands a very high chance of going completely under sometime in the near future

I still think December 12th when some of their certificates expire will be when the skeleton crew collapses.
