I'm not - while the technology apparently can't read minds, in my opinion, the more widespread this kind of technology becomes, the more likely the ability for this to read minds will become reality >_>

The claim: We're going to use brain scanning to monitor your happiness and comfort levels to make sure you are as happy and comfortable as possible so you can work better, since actually paying attention to our employees and employing managers with basic empathy and an understanding of normal human interactions is less attractive than investing in highly experimental, cutting-edge technology.

The reality: We're going to shock you every time you get distracted

If this does end up being implemented, I feel like it's going to need a butt ton of regulation so employers don't abuse it. And even then, they still will.

And any regulations implemented will be implemented by the same crusty old people that bought "They're not loot boxes, they're surprise mechanics!" when EA convinced them loot boxes don't need gambling regulations, so I don't have too much hope that those regulations will reflect the actual potential the technology has for abuse.

Yeeaaah...no. This is the sort of thing that could maybe be used for study purposes here and there, but any sort of regular use would be a far too slippery slope.

That's never going to happen.

The technology already exists to broadly tell what people are thinking about or feeling based on which areas of the brain are active. Reading specific thoughts isn't as far-fetched as you might think; discrete areas of the brain are involved in formulating speech and all it will take to decipher that is to figure out which specific pathways are associated with which words. That's not going to happen tomorrow, by any means, but it's far from totally impossible.

Oh yeah I have no reason to believe that

I've seen the nature channel, so I know what a meat eating predator looks like.

"Your brain waves have shown that you're not very productive, you've been scheduled for a talk about your recent activity"

Honestly shame on the researchers for not realizing how what they're making will be horribly abused.

"You don't have to wear the headset, but we're really looking for cooperative team players to consider for promotions"

So ok great, now we have to fight for legal protections against these things, thanks researchers, brilliant gift you've brought to the world.

Even if you're right, this still brings us far closer to the idea than I'd like...
