I guess they are cool to look at when you first see them but after that they are pretty pointless...

It's probably like everything else sold attached to a gender norms. At some point someone needed to sell something as a hustle and they cleverly convinced people of a tradition and became incredibly rich from it. Becoming a sucker for it became mainstream :3

this is why I dont buy them often at all, especially from a boutique. Im not paying $70 for a dozen roses that will die in a week or less.

yea id never buy flowers that's dumb. i like to paint flowers (i.e. on a canvas).

I have a flower garden I grow every year near my vegetable garden, mostly to help out the bees and also help pollinate my food.

well you see it goes back to our agricultural days
men would hunt while women grew fruits and vegetables and shit

I don't think it's that they specifically like flowers, it's mostly the thought that counts. I've even dated women who told me flat out, don't get me flowers

I've never been one to enjoy flowers as a gift. They're pretty and I appreciate the thought, but they're not my thing. I know some people enjoy gardening and arranging.

I like flowers and plants. Theyre pretty, and they improve air quality in the house. They also repel bugs and dinosaurs.

Flowers are really nice. Plants in general are, but flowers are pretty and smell good, for the most part.

I love flowers. They smell good, are nice to look at and make the room prettier. They lift my mood up. I dont need fancy bouquets either Im happy picking up cheap bouquets from the grocery store.

2. They're beautiful
3. Good reminder of beauty of nature

They like getting flowers in front of their coworkers

there is nothing biologically ingrained in women to like flowers because of our "agricultural" days, it's 100% cultural.

rather it's 100% cultural that men have to NOT like flowers. im not talking about buying them.

I remember going to a bar by my old apt and a flower girl would show up a lot. I was usually pretty whipped up so I didn't remember if it was the same one. but once I bought her whole bouquet and then offered it to the bartender. A very Final Fantasy VII moment.

Flowers are intrinsically linked with beauty ideals and when you get down to it, that's what all women are expected to live up to.

I dont. They make me sneeze and they make a mess. I like them in my garden but not as a gift. My husband usually gives them to me at his change-of-command ceremonies because its just whats typically done, but otherwise he doesnt give me flowers. He knows I dont really want them.
