While E.T. was revolutionary for its time c it doesnt hold up today.

The Lord of the Rings trilogy had horrible pacing, especially the last movie. The first one had a bad habit of showing and not telling as well. Overall they didn't really portray Sauron as any worse than a run of the mill warlord to me.

Naw, it's pretty spicy the camp-era Batmans are explicitly known for being hated by everyone who wasn't a child when they watched them while The Dark Knight is considered the movie that got people to view superhero movies as actual movies and not just something you showed to children.

Neither did I. Most people didn't. VampireCoyote probably went in knowing there was a "huge twist OMG you won't believe it" then spent the whole movie analyzing it and trying to figure out what it would be.

I do agree Usual Suspects is a bad movie nobody would give a shit about if it wasn't for the literal last 10 seconds of the runtime.

The SAW franchise is superior cinema to Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street, Friday 13th etc

Predator 2 > Prey > Predator.

This is not to say the first Predator is bad, but the 2nd one is like the Aliens to Alien. Action packed, full of grit, and fucking spectacular. Prey is a no-nonsense take on the franchise that warrants a high rating too.

There are a bunch of us Burton Batman fans still. BB and TDK are still excellent, but 89 just has that certain vibe and charm that I love. Plus Nicholson > Ledger.

I've always liked Casino better and it might be my favorite movie of all time. The story and setting are more interesting to me. We've seen many NYC rags to riches to rags gangster stories. The whole high level Las Vegas casino skimming plot is a bit different. I think Joe Pesci was even better as Nicky than Tommy and I like the whole dynamic between he, Ace, and Ginger. Sharon Stone also did a phenomenal job as such a despicable character. Goodfellas is still wonderful and one of the GOATs, but I think Scorsese did even better with Casino.

Seems to be a more popular sentiment nowadays. It's almost underrated. I still say the good parts of ROTJ are so good that they vastly outweigh any negatives the movie has. I still find the Endor space battle and Luke vs. Vader to be epic even after all these years later.

I have very rose-tinted glasses about Burton Batman, but just because you like them the most doesn't mean they're the best. People who act like they're alone on a pedestal need to lighten up a little.

Yeah, him too. Also great at playing despicable, but funny characters.

As for ROTJ, the main things that get complaints I never hated. I like the Jabba stuff and the Ewoks never bothered me that much. There are still some things that deserve criticism, but I still think the good outweighs the bad.

Right. Sometimes I think Nolan got too up his own rear end about being gritty and realistic at times. BB did have a certain vibe with a little bit of camp and I liked how Gotham City looked in it. It was mostly realistic, but had that heightened reality vibe about it to where it had a unique character. Then TDK mad Gotham into any old regular city.

I also like Joker when he's more of an actual killer clown with his bad dark humor and tricks and gimmicks more than the dark philosophical villain. Ledger did an awesome job and having a different take on a character is great, but now that's the new standard of The Joker now.

Modern cinema will not age well. I don't think anything released in the last 10 or so years will stand the test of time like some of the legendary flicks from the around the 80'-90's and earlier.

I hate Temple of Doom, and after 30+ years of trying to like it I'm done pretending that I don't. I'd even go so far as to say that (minus the infamous fridge-nuking scene), the first half of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is better.
