I had seen that canvas before I got to that fist raising scene in the show, so it was awesome to get to that part and the original intro song started playing.

krazychao5 posted... whoowhee finally out of the desert level. what a fucking arc; i am impressed with how OP has been so far. so much so that I am watching the filler at the end of the arc and just savoring my team with the crew. while the episodes do not have much substance, it's further exploring these characters and what makes them who they are. last episode was the fireworks i got to.

gotta say, i really enjoyed the wind down in alabasta. especially the episode where luffy wakes up and the feast. the damn fruit basket scene is gold. replayed it a lot and got video and sent to my friends. usually the dinner fast eating trope is well overplayed, but this was a delight to see the demeanor change of all the guards and how they protect the crew from the marines.

i especially like how the world is starting to expand and we are getting scenes outside of the crew and meeting new badass pirates.

I have no fucking idea how much crack it took to get from historical pirates to one piece, but it was worth every penny.

So like, I know she's still relatively new, but like... when the fuck do they give Nico Robin a personality? >_>

Like, I get she's supposed to be mysterious and aloof still, but so far all she's done is literally pull a plot device out of her pocket (with the eternal pose to Jaya).

I'm guessing/hoping she gets a good amount of time spent on her in Sky Island? They didn't give Nami proper attention till a few arcs after her introduction too, so I have hope that we see more of her soon.

I'm officially in the sky now. I'm excited, it's crazy they they straight up made an entire new world/second "ocean" with it's own rules and lore. We haven't even explored all of the first ocean yet!

Also the reveal that there was a "normal" way to get to the sky ocean, and they took the suicide route for no reason was pretty fucking great.

i dont remember if it was mentioned immediately or later but the normal route to get to the sky ocean has like a 50% guaranteed mortality rate so the safe way there would have ended with half the crew dead. the suicide way is the only way the entire crew can make it there safely but its an all or nothing. either the entire crew makes it to the sky or they all die

tbh it's pretty fun, probably the most pirate-y arc in the series to date

I love Chopper, and he might be my second favorite crew-member after Zoro, but I find it weird that the show is kinda back tracking Chopper's ability to fight?

Like, I get that he's not on the level of Luffy or Zoro, and maybe even Sanji, but we've seen him fight multiple times at this point, but the futher we go they seem to be having him fight less and less.

And I get it, he's still a kid, and he's also their doctor, but it's weird that he seems to always be avoiding fights now/seems a little more cowardly then when he first joined the crew. Maybe he's been hanging with Ussop too much.

finally saw enel. my buddy tells me his design is based on eminem. been pretty pretty good arc so far. think it's almost over, netflix says 1 episode left in season but idk how it could wrap up that quickly wiht hte pace of the show prior lol

1. Oda has said in an interview that he is a fan of Eminem. Oda has designed many characters appearances based on real life people before, it's not unreasonable to imagine him doing the same for Enel.
2. Enel was introduced in 2002, which was at the peak of Eminem mania. It was the year that The Eminem Show was released, and a year after The Marshall Mathers LP. Eminem was absolutely massive at that time. It's like, Oda just happened to draw a character who just happens to look like the biggest star in the world at the time?

I think it's because Chopper's first fight, against that abomination Wapol made from his two henchmen, was on his home turf against an enemy he was at least a little familiar with (before they merged, anyway). Fights afterwards take place in the outside world where he has no experience and isn't as confident about his ability to beat the enemy. Seems to make sense.

Also Zoro is closer to Sanji's strength than he is to Luffy's. They're pretty equal, with Zoro having the edge (literally). It's one of the reasons those two not getting along works so well.

(Just saying, Eminem might seem like a random person to base Enel on, but if you take the context of the year when Enel was introduced, Eminem was at the top of the world, so it doesn't seem like a random person to base a character design on at the time.)
