I rarely eat eggs these days. They make me naseuos a third of the time.

I understand prices going up, I live on a provincial Island so that was bound to happen, but what pisses me off, amongst other things today, is that they are messing around with the sizes. There should be a clear difference between large and Extra Large eggs. Opened up like 5 packs the other day, and they were both the same size. X-Large was just priced more.

If your going to gouge your customers have the decency to not screw up the sizes.

I stand corrected. Aldi is now $4.69 for a dozen where I am.

Unfortunately, the gentlest way to get people off of animal products is to price them out of it. Time to pursue better alternatives.

I've been paying around 8-10 dollars for a pack of 24 at Sam's club the last couple of years. Organic cage free stuff too

It's a wonder it hasn't happened already. We're trying to feed 8 billion, like 2 billion of which eats tons of animal products which are basically a good 5x or more the cost to produce per calorie

The way the whole "overpopulation" discussion is framed is entirely wrong, it doesn't apply to humans the same way it does to other animals whose only resource/environmental concerns are food/water. But anyway, humans have also been starving for millions of years so I guess that should be normal and expected too, shouldn't it?

The problem with propping up nations that can't feed their people is that that creates a bubble which is going to pop sooner or later. What happens when the donor nation meets hard times?

$4.50ish a dozen where I shop and they recently just removed like 4 different brands so you only have one option now. That option used to be the cheap brand at $2.50.

The problem with this argument is it ignores everything else but the food people eat and the space they occupy currently. It also frames the problem as a failure to achieve some sort of resource utopia, which is obviously unrealistic. The reality we have is the one we're living in, not some hypothetical techno-utopia. that's not a problem with overpopulation, that's a problem with pollution, and reliance on technologies that cause pollution. if we switched to clean energy, we could effectively address this, with absolutely no reduction in human population required.

Just got back from Costco. They had 2 options for eggs. 2 dozen organic for 7.69 or 7 dozen regular eggs for 22.99. I got organic because wtf am I going to do with 7 dozen eggs.
