Having played Turtles IV and playing Hyperstone Heist/The Return of Shredder again for the first time in awhile.

The games while somewhat similar there is still a lot of differences:

Turtles IV has more levels,story is identical to the arcade game, has the better gameplay and doesn't need a dash button.

Hyperstone Heist: less levels but a bit longer, no Slash,no Bury My shell at Wounded Knee,no Bebop, no Tokka and Rahzar,no Rat King, can't throw enemies at the screen and has lame dash button and the story isn't similar to Turtles in Time.

Turtles IV is superior to Hyperstone Heist.

Haven't touched the NES or Gameboy games or Turtles III yet.

The collection is worth $32 but apparently the online play is garbage, there's slowdown and only like 3 games are online co-op. Konami dropped the ball for online play.

The achievements are lackluster, only 13 in all.

Why is the tmnt nes game so freaking difficult?

Because it's the best one.

That's debatale, Turtles in Time is the best Turtles game. Maybe for the NES its the best one but overall? No.

NES games in general were difficult to beat...especially Battletoads.

Rewind and save states were a real good idea.

That was the trend in the 80s with games, particularly arcade, and then home games would emulate that difficulty style because it's kind of what you came to expect. In the arcades, you know, they wanted people to drop them quarters. So naturally they made the games difficult to progress. Anything that wasn't difficult was considered a kids' game (though at that time a majority of Americans thought all games were kids' games, unless you played them). Home console games' objective from the go was to bring the arcade experience home, and part of the model was the difficulty concept.

The input delay on PS4 makes the first NES game damn near impossible for me to play. Makes a lot of my skill at the game go out the window. That game requires precise controls.

I shouldn't have wasted my money on it. Shredder's Revenge is the superior TMNT game and it made it obsolete months before this came out.

I wanted to play TMNT 1 on my Switch so I talked myself into it.

LOL, no it's not. It took 80% of the gameplay elements from the original arcade game and Turtles in Time. That doesn't make it superior at all and the story is lame compared to the og arcade game and Turtles in Time.

Dot Emu and Tribute Games ripped off gameplay elements from both arcade games, that doesn't make Shredder's Revenge superior in anyway.

Tribute put considerably more into the mechanics of Shredders Revenge. It is the natural evolution of the formula and superior in my opinion.

Defensive moves, combo stringing, launchers, multiple supers per character.

I'm not saying they didn't judiciously pluck from other brawlers (quite a bit from SoR), but it is absolutely an evolution. Only thing that matters is if that's significant to you.

Well, no. There is a point to be made that TMNT2 was a pretty awful port of the arcade game in hindsight, and therefore the original TMNT may have been the better game.

That argument doesn't address the fact that TMNT 3: The Manhattan Project exists though, and that game completely blows the janky ass original out of the water.
