my kids being sick is a physical, mental and emotional drain.

Don't be "that parent" when they get in school. Parent them at home and raise them to be respectful.

Being a teacher right now is exhausting.

I dont think anything is quite as expensive, but you may cycle through sports or other activities until they find what they like. We tried soccer, gymnastics, and tennis before our kids settled on golf. Which is expensive with greens fees. I also had to buy my older daughter adult ladies clubs this year. They also took swimming lessons which were pricey, but it was the place that was good.
As for music, rentals can add up, but we ended up buying 2 clarinets, an electric piano and a guitar. Except for the guitar they get used. Then theres lessons.

Were sort of at the anxious for him to start using words stage. He has his 15 month appointment next week and they say he should use 5 different words, which maybe he does? At least different sounds. But hes getting good at communicating things, he does a lot of pointing at something then pointing at himself when he wants something, and he clearly recognizes certain words like upstairs and downstairs

exciting seeing his communication develop

Ive been so drained. Toddler is having more tantrums. Work has been insane. I think Im just tired as my industry is so toxic. Its a niche part of tech thats known for toxicity and its been a lot to constantly overcome. I dont have the energy anymore. I thought my last startup gig was bad but Ive actually never been this poorly treated before. Im running on no sleep as shes been sick and Ive been cosleeping to keep her comfy. I dont know how working parents do this or maybe I'm just over my industry. But there are no jobs for recruiters now, so at least Im getting a pay check.

I feel like this pressure to see toddlers speak is recent. My pediatrician freaked me out because she was saying less than 10 words at 18 months. Shes 22 months now and at over 200 words and 3-4 word sentences. Colors, numbers and shapes. My niece didnt speak much at all until over 3 but now shes 5 and wont stop. But when I look at parenting subreddits everyone is freaked out and getting speech therapists as soon as they can. I wonder why we all feel this pressure now. It wasnt a thing when we were kids.

today we moved his crib to his own room for the first time. Feels like most of his wakeups recently had come when we opened the door and went to bed, and now both me and my wife have lingering loud overnight coughs so its past time, in my opinion.

will be nice to have the bedroom to ourself again

Thats good. Sickness sucks

we took ours in for his 15 month today and he has an ear infection. He was sick and had pink eye a couple weeks ago and we took him in, no ear infection, no antibiotics

hes shown absolutely no sign anything was wrong lately but now he has the infection

weird shit

We got that as a gift and I honestly think it was a little too much. To be fair it was winter most of the time he was little so we didnt use the stroller part of it all that much, but once he got big enough to sit up without the carrier we liked using smaller, more foldable strollers better

there were some times where it was very convenient for sure but its pretty bulky even folded

My girl can be awake up to an hour before she fusses and wants out. She talks to her squishmallow and reads the book we put in the crib with her (she asks for one every night). Sometimes I see her playing with her hands and feet lol. Very possible he was awake but just chilling. I wait until she calls for me. One time I went early before she called for me and she kept saying asleep! and looked mad. I strongly got the impression from how she was saying it that she didnt appreciate the interruption lol

Ive had severe back pain the last two weeks. Can barely walk or stand much. The pain has been generally bad the last few months but it reached a peak I guess. I went to urgent care and was diagnosed with sacrioilitis. Went to my regular pain care doctor last week who said the same thing (before I told him what the urgent care doctor said). Apparently this is common postpartum in women. The joint loosens during pregnancy and doesnt quite snap back. Over time it can get severely inflamed and become debilitating.

I got an injection in the joint yesterday. It was under X-ray and pretty painful. It takes a few days to take effect. I am in so much pain. My husband has taken over everything the last two weeks and is basically constantly guilting me over it. Its making me so depressed. Its not like I have control over this. I will be out next week for a work trip as well. Im hoping Ill be back to normal soon.

Sorry to hear that. Hope it gets better soon

Not to get too into it ITT but there are so many shitty and painful complications that can come with pregnancy/post-pregnancy that I wasnt even aware of until my wife experienced some of it, truly made me realize how heinous these Republican politicians are for trying to force women to go through pregnancy.

here in wisconsin we reverted to an 1800s-era ban on abortions that doesnt have any clear exceptions. There is an election next month that will decide the makeup of our Supreme Court, and essentially decide whether the law stands or not. And by extension, will decide if my 36-year old wife could safely have another child given the higher risk of complications

(sorry to turn this into a political rant haha, its just extremely frustrating how this shit directly affects my family)
