Even considering we all know fresh cut fruit is stupid expensive, that's still not a lot of food for a hundred bucks. To make your money stretch you have to shop at multiple stores and buy excess when there are sales and freeze it. Idk, I feed my family of four for around $120/week. Eggs, fresh fruits and veggies (in season), beans, rice, some meat. Milk, coffee, some soda. Just have to shop the sales, make sure you have the store's discount card, and take advantage of any programs they might offer. Food Lion gives you money every month if you spend a certain amount per category. $5 back on $40 of fresh produce for example. It's free to sign up. I only buy what I normally would and don't shop to hit the target in a category I normally wouldn't buy from. Usually an extra $20 a month or so. Not much but it adds up. I almost never buy precut fruit or veggies unless I'm hosting a party or something. But that's a separate part of the budget anyway. Also, for what it's worth I live in rural NC and it's not a super high cost of living area. I don't make a lot, either, so it all balances out. --- RIP BigAirDay aka Bill.
