I was listening to a podcast about their CEO. Herb Kelleher.

He died in 2019 but apparently, he was beloved by everyone. Even when he would use loopholes to break certain rules, the government was basically like "Ahhh we like ya so don't do it again".

And he would sometimes go on flights and pose as a flight attendant and bring up the morale of everyone he worked with.

if it's in the contract not much anyone can do.

requiring a doctor's note on the first day back from a sickness is perfectly valid.

2nd one is requests and any company can deny a request for a day off.

mandatory overtime, just depends on what the union agreed to.

obviously I dunno how much overtime they're being forced to do. but I guess everyone having to do some is more safe than some people doing too much?

Thing is, aren't the majority of the pilots and flight attendants grounded without a flight to work? And the gate attendants are busy trying to tell customers that there's nothing to do but wait or go home. So all their usual employees are dealing with the abuses of the public and the execs throwing out these orders don't have to deal with any of the outrage until a month or more from now when they speak to the investors. :/
