I was listening to a podcast about their CEO. Herb Kelleher.

He died in 2019 but apparently, he was beloved by everyone. Even when he would use loopholes to break certain rules, the government was basically like "Ahhh we like ya so don't do it again".

And he would sometimes go on flights and pose as a flight attendant and bring up the morale of everyone he worked with.

requiring a doctor's note on the first day back from a sickness is perfectly valid.

2nd one is requests and any company can deny a request for a day off.

mandatory overtime, just depends on what the union agreed to.

obviously I dunno how much overtime they're being forced to do. but I guess everyone having to do some is more safe than some people doing too much?

Time to remind the company that nothing moves without them. Which is what the goddamn railroad workers should have done as well. Strike and shut it down.

Thing is, aren't the majority of the pilots and flight attendants grounded without a flight to work? And the gate attendants are busy trying to tell customers that there's nothing to do but wait or go home. So all their usual employees are dealing with the abuses of the public and the execs throwing out these orders don't have to deal with any of the outrage until a month or more from now when they speak to the investors. :/

idk about you but without going to the ER or urgent care, theres no way I get to see my doc the same day Im sick

true, I was only thinking about people missing multiple days

1 and 4 are fine. 2 and 3 are kinda iffy.

1 is not fine. They're a huge waste of time and healthcare resources. And since it's the US I assume they're costly too.

SW can get absolutely fucked. Flights getting cancelled and the billionaire shareholders losing money on the refunds they need to issue is considered an "emergency." An employee not being able to make rent because the fuckers not paying enough is considered a "go freeze outside bitch!"

And the CEO raked in $9 million last year... corporate America is fucked up
