I'm most of the way done with the original PSP game that I've put off playing for 15 years, and I gotta say that it feels really under baked. Bad pacing, disappointingly shallow scenarios, repetitive side missions... Seems like very fixable things with the right team.

I never played the original but I'm pretty sure this is basically identical minus the better graphics. I think the combat is slightly improved too but all of the other problems are still there.

We'll that's a waste. The Crisis Core world has so much damn potential if they could just flesh out a >10 hour game.

They also completely revoiced the game, replacing Zack's original fantastic VA with a completely wooden one.

Oh, I thought the remake was with FF7R's combat system and redone graphics, but just following CC's story.

There's a mod on PC to fix this!

Crisis Core Reunuon, more like Cissnei Ruined

Both her character design and voice actress are serious downgrades from original.... so sad

(I don't have game on PC but I wonder if the mod could fix her voice too, but wouldnt fix character model...)

I'm currently playing it and enjoying it. It's a shame they didn't work on this more, but I appreciate making it more accessible than the very non-accessisble PSP game, so having the story easily available while they're retelling FF7 keeping everyone in touch is nice. I guess it's because they're choosing to focus on FF7R and I can appreciate that.

Obviously there're a still lot of very repetitively side quests, that I tend to do while having a football game or something similar running, but pacing is fine when you actually make progress imo, you can just not do everything. You'll be disappointed if you're expecting a brand new 2022 game but for what it is it's fine.

My biggest complaint so far is that the combat is just too easy or impossible.

Like I'm sure I could beat any enemy in the game at level 1 because the dodge is so generous. It would just take forever to wittle down their health.

But then other bosses have these big unblockable attacks and you have to lower their health bar a certain amount to lower the damage of the attack. So those fights are just impossible unless you're doing enough damage.

Piss easy combat and unwinnable fights are an annoying combo.

I have heard that they made the combat playable from someone who wasn't a fan of the original, but I haven't played either.

Voice acting aside, it's a PSP game with QoL improvements and that's fine.

Camera is way better at least.

Controls are way better. I can't imagine what the combat was like with having to cycle through all your spells etc.

Wasn't too bad just need to set up beforehand to make it easier.

Oh and regarding pacing, you can skip cutscenes if that helps.

Finished it a couple days ago. Finished every mission. Still great fun.

I'm about to bounce off it after 5 hours myself. The cutscenes are so stiff and lifeless and the actual gameplay is really not grabbing me.

Bummer because I'm a big FF7 fan but I just can't find any fun so far.

I don't remember it being especially annoying, more of something you get used to. It's not like you have hundreds of spells to go through.

They increased the super bosss HP to 77Mil on hard mode. Its the only mission Ill probably have to bump the difficulty down to normal for, which is a bummer, but three achievements are locked behind beating it.

I remember in the PSP version that once you got demi you could cheese a lot of the hard enemies by just running away and spamming that.

It's a long ol' slog. Just make sure you bring lots of phoenix downs (you can mug 99 from the secret boss herself)

It's pretty fun it's my first time playing it. It definitely is a psp game at it's core though

I love how easy they make it to break the game with the mission system lol. I'm like 12 hours in and I have 40000 HP

She has one attack that does this which she uses rarely. Plus you know it is coming as its the one with the purple bar that you can reduce from 100%

Cool, but then you still need to hit her 778 times without screwing up. A one hour boss fight is dumb.

You're right, 20 mil was more than enough
