One argument against a Superman game that makes sort of sense is the idea of progression. Every game has you starting at low-level and getting stronger with more abilities, weapons, and powers. So many people want to depower Superman out of fear that a game wouldn't be fun if he's Superman-level, but at that point, are you even playing as Superman, or some husk of a man in Superman clothing? Either one of two ways to go about it. The city has a life bar or against regular enemies you can't really lose but you can do poorly and it's reflected in the public perception of superman. Like from idolizing him to hating him maybe even fearing him if you are so bad with collateral damage it almost seems either intentional or just not caring at all Can also have challenges like some crime is going down and you have to find it before its over using various abilities like super hearing or xray vision. --- Cid- "looks like that overgrown lobster just got served!" PiOverlord posted... I agree. So many people want to depower Superman out of fear that a game wouldn't be fun if he's Superman-level, but at that point, are you even playing as Superman, or some husk of a man in Superman clothing? well yeah. I don't want a depowered Superman (that's a lazy solution) and the game should make you feel like Superman in the same way the Batman and Spider-man games made you feel like them. But I'm not game designer so I can't really think of a solution so I understand the challenge. I've heard the "give the city a life bar" solution before but I dunno. But I'm not game designer so I can't really think of a solution so I understand the challenge. I just some other suggestions too where having to use his various powers to stop things in time be the challenge in some missions. Let combat be just for the fun of it outside taking down known villains of superman. Maybe a mission or two where kryptonite is used so it becomes a game of superman vs a mob. A frequent justification for Superman not stomping everything into the ground in various media is that he's usually holding back. If you're going to make a Superman game I think you need to add a little more direction for players to explore. You can't just aimlessly fly around the city. There could be some sort of markers guiding players. Maybe there could be something like paths of floating rings directing you around Metropolis?
