The way things played out made it clear Walker had been coached not to do that after he'd done this the FIRST time. LaFleur was reminding him "THINK!" from the sideline. He was beating himself up because he hadn't followed through with what his coaches told him. He's gonna need more hands-on coaching during the offseason to control his temper better, and if he gets another red card next year, his job security is suddenly going to be questionable.

I was only hanging around the pick 'em league the last couple of years 'cause I'd never missed the playoffs and wanted to push the streak, and said league is the only reason I pay as much attention to the NFL as I do when I've really wanted to distance myself more from it in recent years.

This might be a blessing in disguise for me.

Wish the Rams won so the Lions were playing with something to lose, but hard to see this team beating San Fran next week anyway. Hopefully not the end of Rodgers' career, but could be.

So after talking with some friends it's come to my attention the only thing I actually really feel right now is a sense of freedom now that the playoff streak is broken. Pick 'em leagues and suicide leagues and whatnot have honestly... Become a good 90% of the reason I ever watch this sport anymore.

I've stated multiple times this season alone I don't think this is a sport anyone should even be playing and now I just have nothing to obsess over for once. I can just completely ignore it and I honestly think it will feel good to do so.

Williams is awesome, and I hope he has the same success next year. I think the Lions might be the best team in the NFC North, since the Vikings wont get as lucky next year. Packers are third at best.

Now that I've calmed down, and the clarity has set in, I know that there is no way this team would've beaten SF next week, so being out one week early is not the end of the world. The Packers simply were not a good team this year. Yes, we beat the lowly bears and rams to start our magical run, then we got two straight games with 4 defensive turnovers each plus some special teams miracles. Those kind of games are anomalies and masked the fact that we were still a mediocre team pretending to be something this year. While we had a few bright spots, there was a lot of regression, especially offensively. It's a shame that losing Davante Adams would be this impactfuly.

I would be at peace if this was Rodgers last game as a Packer. In a way, I'm kind of hungry for a reboot. Let's see what Jordan Love can do. I'm ready for the next chapter.

And as for the Lions, I'm alright with letting them be the one doing the gloating for once. I know the Packers have been a thorn in their side for decades, and to get this one on us...well...I can't even really be mad about it.

I'm honestly pretty shocked

I was just about to ask you all if you saw any other HC firings happening today. Not a bad move by Arizona imo. Now the openings are Panthers, Colts, Broncos, Texans, Cardinals. Rams will likely be one too.

The only other firing I expect is Staley if the Jags beat the Chargers.

In his defense, despite the "flaming out" stuff, they still did improve in record every season he was there until this past one. The team was the #1 pick 4 seasons ago, can't really turn that into a winning record franchise in 2 seasons imo on a regular basis.

With that being said, they def underperformed this year but they also missed important pieces including kyler for significant stretches of time. If you're just going on record, you could turn it around and say maybe one day owners will stop firing coaches for one bad season.

Kliff also had a track record (going back to college) of his teams faltering in the second half of seasons, so I'd have probably saved an extension for when that didn't happen.

I do agree teams are also too quick to fire coaches. It's just the opposite extreme of the spectrum.

yeah the trend is hard to ignore. If they wanted to move on from him for that I wouldn't argue. But the extension is just stupid.

The 49ers are Super Bowl contenders despite the sort of QB issues that would crush any other team, and they've been to the Super Bowl with multiple coaching staffs and QBs in recent memory. If that's not a good front office, then it's at least a very lucky one.

I think Baltimore is living off of the legacy of the previous regime. They've failed Lamar and will now use it as a reason not to pay him what he thinks he's worth.

Oh I forgot Buffalo and San Fran, good call. Albeit there is still a big question mark about the Trey Lance trade when they are doing well enough to never have needed him

While I agree that that the Ravens are living off of the reputation Ozzie Newsome built, I think the only place they really failed Lamar was at WR. He's got top talent around him on the rest of the offense, the problem is that Dobbins and Edwards got hurt before the start of last year and didn't get back until Lamar got hurt this year. So Lamar had to be RB1 in addition to QB1 because of that. They've even tried at WR, spending 8 picks in the draft on WR since they drafted Lamar. The issue there is they've never been able to develop receivers (the best one they've ever developed is probably Torrey Smith, and a lot of his value came from his ability to draw DPI). They just hate giving up high draft picks, but that's what they should've done to get a real WR.
