The only harmless mutant is a dead mutant! You wouldn't give a 12-year old a Raygun compatible of leveling cities, but these mutants have that power, from when they go through puberty -- and you expect them to be mature about it? There's a war on, and it's not about country's sovereign powers being merely taken away, it's a war for the very existence of humanity. Anyone who tells you a mutant is a human, like you and me, is either a mutant themselves or have been brainwashed by them -- you seen how some of them look, right? How'd a small "genetic abnormality" cause that? They're no more human than the Skrulls, and just like the Skurlls they are not going to give any quarter, so we cannot. If you want a world where your human children can grow and live in peace, then make sure your senator votes for the Mutant Control Act! ... Copied to Clipboard!

UnfairRepresent posted... But it's better than everyone in the world dying in seconds. A registry alone won't actually prevent that in any way. UnfairRepresent posted... Amputation is an immoral idea.... except when if you don't ampuate then you'll fucking die. Good idea. We should totally kill anyone who commits a violent crime, that way we can guarantee they'll never commit another crime. It's foolproof! Actually, we should probably kill people before they commit crimes. So maybe we should just kill anyone who comes from a criminal family. Or who shows criminal inclinations. Hell, mandatory therapy sessions for everyone every three years starting in elementary school, and anyone who trips a few red flags can just get popped on the off chance that they might have done something violent someday. For that matter, why stop at violence? Theft is a crime that causes both economic and psychological damage, so let's add that to the list of offenses. Hell, we could probably solve that one just by doing away with most poor people right out of the gate. I mean, if we kill enough people, there'll be so such thing as crime! Because there'll be no one left to commit it. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ... Copied to Clipboard!

UnfairRepresent posted... Where the fuck did kill come from From the fact that you're using amputation as a metaphor, when the infected limb you're talking about cutting away would, in this case, literally be people. And because it's arguably the only way a registry would actually do anything to prevent the catastrophe you're apparently so terrified of. Knowing who Xavier is and what he can do doesn't stop him from doing it. But knowing who he is and what he can do gives plenty of incentive to the sort of person who would murder him in his sleep to prevent him from ever potentially doing it. UnfairRepresent posted... We're talking about a registry of people who literally have the power to end all life on Earth in seconds if they chose to. And because of that, you're willing to abrogate the sum total of their human rights. And the rights of every other mutant, including the vast majority who can't do anything even remotely that powerful, because government bureaucracy does nothing to distinguish between the big and the little. You were born with a gene - so now you're fucked. And you wonder why people object to registration. --- "Wall of Text'D!" --- oldskoolplayr76 "POwned again." --- blight family ... I thought the comics showed how sen. Kelly only feared what he didnt understand and believed he was protecting everyone from the mutantkind. He based policies on the extreme for the few mutants that did real harm and damage. Like any Difference or uniqueness of a mutant was a threat regardless of powers. To take down a monster like Sen. Kelly requires the person(s) to become the monster kinda stuff as i read this xmen story. Both sides wanted to protect their sides from each other and thats the tragedy as both side tried to hear each other out but others not supportive try to strengthen their respctive sides through subversion and other harmful motive against each other. I was into the xmen comics when fitsroy? and bishop were introduced. During that time, days of future past were the recommended stories to read if you talked about xmen. The bishop story echoed it and then some - who killed charles xavier? It was adapted with xmen tv cartoon but the comics told the story better. --- You don't stop playing because you grow old, You grow old because you stop playing ... Copied to Clipboard!
