In the first one, maybe multiple times in human history, aliens came to earth and transported people away and never brought them back. These people went on to form societies on other planets.

In the 2nd one, humans turn out not to be native to earth. In the distant past, primitive humans living on a different planet were scooped up and deposited on earth

In either story, we find out that earth is not the only planet in which humans live. And these are still classified as fully human. If a person from earth has sex with one of these other humans, a pregnancy can happen. They are fully genetically compatible with us

The second one. Suddenly, there's a whole new potential source of illegal immigration.

I have also heard this about Octopuses

but Octopuses have no relatives that can link them to a past ancestor!

Or they found primitive creatures and fucked with their DNA in experiments and that cause humans to appear. Some theories think that humans were never going to naturally evolve into existence and that we are the product of alien scientists who came to study primitive life
