You can quickly see the date in front when looking at the block of text which is good if you already have things filled under a certain month for example

Makes sense to use day->month->year even having used the amercanized way for as long as I can remember

Month and day are more relevant information than year. Usually people just say 1/11 or 11/1

Being British I use DD/MM/YY like the rest of the world.

Only Yankeeland uses MM/DD/YY for some strange reason.
