That's really not a hard ask from a company that should have spent the last decade futureproofing these models and animations, let alone a company that is part of the entity controlling the single most popular media franchise to ever exist.

I don't think that Gamefreak could pull it off on a technical level, given how much they struggle to get the games with a reduced Dex to run on the Switch, so in that respect I do think it's an unrealistic ask.

But I feel like that's more of a slight on Gamefreak than anything. I'm sure even on the Switch it would be possible in theory.

Pokemon is valued at around 90 BILLION dollars. For comparison, HALO is worth around $6B and Call of Duty is worth about $30B. They can afford to do the one thing their entire franchise is built on.

If a studio under a major publisher shit out something as incomplete, unpolished, and broken as Arceus or S/V, the entire staff would be fired for incompetence and the franchise given to a new studio. There's literally no defense for how little effort goes into the new games, beyond the actual reason which is there's no reason for them to put money into making a good game when people keep buying the shit they push out.

it's not like they can't just reuse all the animations and everything when they're pumping out games ever year with no technological advancement

Which developers of a major, long-running, worldwide franchise put out something to the level of Arceus that still have creative control over it? "Similar issues"... you're talking straight out of your ass.

Bonus points if said developer didn't apologize, invest huge amounts of money into said game, and then re-released it as a fixed product.

Fallout 76 for starters. And realistically Gamefreak are the developers they didnt publish the damn games.

No TC, what I want is the series itself to get to that next level.

Zelda did it with BoTW, Mario did it with Odyssey, FF did it with the remake, God of War did it with both of the latest entries. I could continue to list examples TBH.

Instead, the highest grossing series of all time keeps releasing uninspired buggy trash that seems to take 3 steps back for every step forward. Legends Arceus was kinda a step toward something like what I want, but even that wasn't that great.

Why is it all my other favorite series continue to amaze me, and this one does the opposite?

At least Sonic is trending upward again with stuff like Frontiers and Mania. Just pretend Forces never happened.

I really never expected every single Pokemon to always be available. Seemed completely unsustainable in the long run.

But the fact that they actually have fully programmed/animated Pokemon and still leave them out at this point just feels silly.

Mania wasn't Sonic Team, so it doesn't apply due to the whole "creative control" clause, and Frontiers is pretty much a 1:1 to Arceus in most every respect so I don't know if I would say that it changes much.

I know garbage when I see it, and Sonic certainly isn't above Pokemon in that regard. I made this username back when SA2 was new, before the franchise really went into the shitter.

True but that clearly stems from the games. Without the games there's far less incentive to buy supplementary merch.
