  1. Illegal immigrants do not receive welfare, unless they have a child born on US soil (and are deemed eligible for US citizenship), in which they only receive the benefits granted related to that child.
  2. People who say "Open our borders" want immigrants to cross in a legal manner, where they are documented and accounted for. Nobody wants people climbing fences and making a run for it. Thus, the analogy should be "knock on their door and ask if you can come over for lunch", in which case that's just being a nice neighbour.
  3. I'd be willing to bet that the average American taxpayer pays more tax money per year towards corporate welfare than towards welfare for those in poverty. Welfare isn't the reason you're poor.

This one is a special kind of dumb. They rant about poor people not paying taxes in one instant and then argue if they didn't pay taxes they already didn't pay they wouldn't be poor the next.

So I ignored the first part because it wasn't intended to do anything. It's obviously just something they made up to piss people off. But the other part is just a lie. Average wage for an electrician is 50k, and that is great, I don't know why they didn't just go with the truth? I googled the 100k thing and basically the only way they could do that is to own a company and land a great contract which owning your own company and getting a good deal with it isn't really unique to electricians so...

Outside of government contracts -- such as to prop up green industries and farm subsidies -- "corporate welfare" isn't a fucking thing. Taxing less is still a net positive, unlike actual welfare which is a net negative. The corporate welfare argument comes from a statist belief that governments should own 100% of the means of the production, just like kings did throughout history.

Only BS0 could equate struggling workers with the people not working at all and pretend that they're the same.

If a corporation's full-time employees need to be on welfare to make ends meet instead of the corporation simply paying them enough to do so, that corporation is on welfare. This is, of course without even considering the ridiculous ways that corporations (and especially those who own them) exploit loopholes to avoid paying taxes or even receive refunds (which overwhelmingly go into the pockets of those at the top and not into improving the welfare of their employees).

Reminder that 70% of all welfare recipients are working full-time, which means the government is picking up the slack of employers that are unwilling or unable to pay their employees enough to survive (which is an important - albeit unwritten - condition of their employment). That sounds an awful lot like subsidies to me.

I cannot fathom how anyone sees welfare or UBI as a net negative. Those who are impoverished or of low-to-middle income will put that money right back into the economy through the purchasing of basic necessities.

As opposed to granting tax relief to wealthy corporations or individuals, who in turn will add to their tremendous coffers and continue to hoard wealth and resources...

Trickle-down economics is a proven failure for everyone outside of those with absurd wealth. It's baffling that there are those who still pound that drum. Baffling.

Agree.

Here's the cool thing about taxes - Say you're Amazon and Walmart and that you both ~aCtUaLlY pAy YoUr TaXeS~, walmart benefits from Amazon's spending and Amazon benefits from Walmart's spending... The only person implicitly harmed by taxes is whoever is in the economically 1st position; and if you're already there, why do you need more?

I mean colleges are terrible, but only because Reagan intentionally privatized them to make them less accessible.

Also good luck finding a doctor that went to a trade school. All of society can just be electricians/welders/plumbers, things Republican men like doing. Why didn't I think of that? We can all just be Republican men and drive pickup trucks to our welding jobs.

It's too bad these sorts of people will just unfriend you the second you push back. They go on an emotional tirade as they try to summarize the manifestos they heard from their podcasts into one or two coherent thoughts (it's never one or two quick points, always a larger web of conspiracies), and just end up getting really upset as they've never gotten into a real argument.

Instead of complaining, lefties should just cut off their cock and balls and become welders. We should really do something about all the wokeness on the Disney channel. I thought I saw a black man on Hannah Montanna yesterday.
