I will literally never take my shoes off unless I am specically asked. Here are some reasons:

1. It makes me feel like I am "getting too comfortable" at their house, I don't like that.

2. People's floors are always gross, usually because of pets. There is no such thing as a "clean floor" when you have pets, sorry. And I can't even remember the last time I was in a house that didn't have pets.

3. I don't like that awkward little moment where the night is done, people are leaving, and everyone is standing in front of the front door putting their shoes back on making shitty small talk before they leave. I want to just walk the fuck right on out.

I've moved to slippers, but I still walk through the house to go take off my shoes.

I have no qualms in telling anybody who walks through the door to take their damn shoes off. I still have a kid who plays on the floor, so nobodys walking through my house with shoes

ok, but what about at your house? all of those examples are when you go over to someone elses residence, do you wear the shoes/boots you wear outside inside too?

also, if peoples floors are always gross because of pets, what about those that dont have pets that wear the same footwear outside inside, isnt that just as gross?

These people probably have dank feet from wearing shoes 24/7.

I personally don't find shoes gross unless they are visibly gross. Like with a pet house there is a difference. It is that funky pet smell the carpet gives. It is that feeling when you are walking in the kitchen and you step on some dog drool that has dried and is now a mysterious gritty rough patch on an otherwise smooth floor. It is the feeling of your socks now covered in cat hair, or worse, an ejected hair ball.

Shoes don't give any of that. You can't smell it. Feel it. See it. The only worry is the thought of some invisible germs that may or may not be there and yeah I don't give too much of a shit about something I don't even know is there.

There are clean floors with pets.

Pets like: birds, fish, reptiles, gerbils, hamsters, etc.

IE: Pets that sleep in a cage/tank.
