that sounds good. i like putting some grilled chicken strips and broccoli in mine. but pulled pork, and maybe like some peppers and onions, now that would be tasty too.

my 10/10 mac and cheese

get a block of velveeta cheese and melt it in heavy cream
while that is melting, boil your mac and cheese. strain mac.
pour mac and melted cheese into a large pot and mix.
add your preffered cheeses. i prefer 1 cup gruyere, 1 cup gouda, 1 cup havarti, 1 cup muenster. pour about 80% of those into the pot and stir
add salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper, creole seasoning. mix.
pour into a pyrex baking dish. sprinkle top with panko bread crumbs. put remaining cheese on top
Bake in oven at like 350 for 45 minutes.

remove and let sit at least a 30 minutes before eating. it is awesome mircrowaved.

Mac and cheese is a tricky terrain.

imo, home made always lacks that certain element of filth that is required for truly life changing mac and cheese. Sure, good home made mac and cheese is good. but it'll only ever be good. It needs to be bad to be great. You need to start with gross box shit. Let pre-packaged garbage be the canvas upon which you paint your tapestry of filth. This is your Dumpster Opus

One such avenue... Jalapeno Chedder Cheetos brand mac n cheese. shred in some pepper jack. sliced jalapeno. two diced jalapeno chedder stuffed glizzies. if you like some MOTHAFUCKIN CRONCH don't be afraid to lean into the abomination you are creating and top it off with some... what? what's what? you fuckin guessed it, MORE GODDAMN CHEETOS. I recommend diverting from the jalapeno trend here and instead using flaming hot limon. On that note, we need some ZEST. Literally anything lime. don't give a fuck what it is. that plastic lime squirty thing. fresh squeezed lime. if you really just hate how low your blood pressure is can try some sorta lime infused margarita salt but I WOULD NOT. I personally have taken a liking to this dumb fuckin green squeezy bottle of limey Ortega shit.

Bone apple tea motherfucker.

Proteins can definitely up the level of a mac and cheese. I really like processed pork with mac and cheese. Bacon, ham, sausage, shredded pork with bbq sauce are all great with either a baked mac or just a stove top prepared one. If I prepare stovetop mac, I'll sometimes add peas and diced apples. Apples you can either go sweet or sour, both work great depending on type of cheese and pasta you use. Like a sourdough pasta with a sweet apple (fuji, honeycrisp, gala etc.) is amazing, or a white flour pasta with grannie smiths can be awesome.

Just make a box of Kraft and fancy it up. I make it normal, then add a handful of shredded cheese (the Mexican Style Blend my grocery store sells), then a little garlic salt and some oregano. You could do some bread crumbs too if you want the crunch. Delicious and easy.

Baked Mac and cheese can be the best but its usually done poorly and ends up worse than stove top. Mac and cheese shouldnt come out of the oven with the consistency of a cake but that seems to be a common issue people have.

yeah, i'll do this pretty often too, with the grilled chicken strips and broccoli i mentioned earlier. and some shredded cheese like you say, usually cheddar and pepper jack, and sometimes even some bacon.

i personally have never liked breadcrumbs or panko on my mac and cheese. i've never gotten why people go so crazy over that, or why it is so ubiquitous with baked mac and cheese specifically.

regular bread crumbs are great on mac n cheese. loose panko is a fucking atrocity.
