It bugs me that they didn't even try to make the hair similar. It isn't just the difference between Black hair and White hair. It's like they wanted to make a point to get away from the iconic haircut.

kinda rude? She is the biggest asshole in the show in the first episode at least. She made Norbert tell her that he has feelings for her so shell laugh at him so she didnt get hallucinations for example.

This show seems like it was conceived just to piss people off

Not sure why a spin off needs to be "faithful". Obviously the goal of this show isn't related to the goal of the original show. If they said "scooby doo reboot" or something, I could understand.

Not sure, haven't watched it, but afaik there is only 1 episode released so it would be hard to tell.

Presumably there's a story, filled with plot and character development. And the goal is to tell whatever that story is. But not sure anybody but the creators know what that is at this point.

Well, I'd be more willing to side with this if the show was at least entertaining. It just doesn't feel anything like a Scooby-Doo cartoon and even has random unnecessary gore, and its jokes don't land.

I'm getting this from the clips being posted around Twitter. I'm not watching it on Max at all.

I still have this headcanon that Mindy Kaling came up with the show and characters and was initially unrelated to Scooby-Doo, and either her or someone with WB got the idea to shoehorn the Scooby-Doo IP in because they were unsure of its potential for success.

They ditched Scooby to try to make it more mature, but the jokes are just jokes kids would laugh at.

House took Sherlock Holmes and turned the idea on it's head. Turned out great. Elementary took it and in a more direct adaptation turned it on it's head and it turned out pretty good.

I think all the outrage is just bullshit. If you're not interested in an obviously loosly inspired spin-off, perhaps don't watch it? It's not like Scooby Doo is in need of another terrible spin off that follows the traditional formula.

Those are two of the worst examples you could have made. House is just loosely inspired by Sherlock Holmes and not even directly based on it, and Elementary still retains the character traits of its source material.

The personalities of the cast of Velma are so different they're indistinguishable from the originals. If it's going to be an irreverent subversion of the property, it still needs to have some semblance of it.
