Without math, if we even got transmigrated, our game screens wouldn't have numbers on them, instead having more vague values of HP, MP, strength, magic, defense, agility, etc...

No. I'm totally going to be called upon to know when a truck leaving New York and a truck leaving South Carolina will meet if the NY truck is going 60 mph and the NC truck is going 40 mph.

my school offered a math class to juniors and seniors called Business Finance, iirc.

there, we learned about taxes, paying bills, and even minor stuff, like signing checks.

it has been a long time since I've been in school, so I forgot a lot of what was taught, but that class was really useful.

Back in high school Math 7-10 was rather dull, and just got more complicated as the years went on. I honestly didn't see where I needed to know stuff like long division, computing fractions, Pi and so forth in my future. Then when Math 11 came around within the first two classes I couldn't make heads or tails of anything we were reading. We must have been going into algebra, calculus and such. I wound up asking if there was an alternative course I could take as my brain just couldn't handle it and they put me in Math 11A which made me feel like I was in an elementary course. It was just too easy.

No. Calculus explains the world. I wish I understood it better. And almost our entire existence can be modeled with triangles, so trigonometry is crucial too.

Yeah, I doubt I could easily pass many high school math tests at this point with how much I've forgotten, and I've never once been at a loss in my daily life. You really only need that knowledge if the field you're going into requires it. It would be better if schools had more focus on individuality/life plans, so they could start filtering kids into the classes they need.

Yeah. Took me until my junior year to even pass Algebra 1. Was in there with the freshmen... I suck at math. Never cared for the subject even though I know it's super important. I just couldn't wrap my brain around it.

No, I think it laid a foundational understanding of the way ideas and concepts are derived and verified, and even if I can't remember the specific equations or principles anymore I can trust that the use of them is valid and consistent.

it was only more advanced mathematics i learned in my later college years that i haven't applied yet

The literal math? Probably. Y = mx + b hasn't come up in anything important for me.

But learning the process of figuring those problems out I assume helped me.

My school called it math apps. Way more useful than calculus or trigonometry.

Other than English, I would say math is the skill I use most. Yeah, I don't need to know y=mx+b or the quadratic formula, but I frequently find the area of a square, use pythagorean theorem, etc.

Absolutely, I wished I remembered it more. I excelled in math and computer science and it was the low-key best thing I could've done for my career which has nothing to do with either. Studying hard and excelling in those classes taught me how to think through problems in an algorithmic way and to think outside the box.

i took geometry, algebra 2, trigonometry, and pre-calculus in HS.

geometry and trigonometry have been useful in various construction projects. Algebra 2 has been useful in understanding science videos. Like you learn more about logarithms, probability and statistics, exponents and large numbers, variables, imaginary numbers, constants, etc.

pre-calc and above have been useless.
